If he was suspended and banned from contact with NFL personnel...when did he interview for the job he got RIGHT as he got reinstated? Smells like a violation of the suspension terms...

IIRC, he was given permission to speak with teams about openings sometime in January.

He was in fact given permission to look for a job. Once he "got" the job they would review and give him a decision on his suspension.

Around the time that Sean was reinstated, it was reported that while GW was still suspended, he had already been granted permission to seek employment about 3 weeks before then by the league.

As a matter of fact, the league said they would not consider reinstatement until he was offered a job by a team. So when he met with the league last week, his contract with Tenn. was approved (which he was already offered) and his reinstatement was granted at the same time.

He's been able to look for a job for almost a month now. Why in the world is the man responsible for the bounty BS allowed to look for a job before Payton is reinstated, and why is that same man getting the same punishment for being the lynchpin behind the bounty BS? Payton really had no involvement in the bounty BS, but the man who started it and ran it gets off the same? Goodell says Payton is suspended for a year and Williams is suspended indefinately, yet they get the same time? Man, it just doesn't smell right.

It seems like any potential employer would have had to be rather certain that he would be reinstated for any real negotiations to take place.

Responsible for bounty program + cooperated w/ NFL > Not responsible + fought back against NFL

Agreed, but when did Payton / Benson / Loomis fight back? Not that we have seen at least, yet no reinstatement of draft pick. :idunno:

Payton was allowed to talk to Loomis about his extension while he was technically still suspended.

True, they couldn't fight back like the players--I just meant that Payton didn't go along 100% with the NFL's version of events, he didn't throw anyone else under the bus, didn't sign affidavits backing up Goodell's version of the truth, etc.

Not directly. Payton had to go through his agent in order to get his extension. He was allowed to talk to Benson and Loomis for things pertaining to the Hornets.

Yeah I think we cracked the code that the whole thing was a sham the minute GW agreed to be Goodell's lapdog.

GW has said that he was contacted by 20+ teams during the Bounty investigation saying he has to take the fall. That is exactly why he got a job so fast and was reinstated by the NFL.
