When talking about "Defensive" football and how hard playing Corner and Safety are, I recall in '09 when we had some folks go down, Coach Payton called on Mike Mckenzie and Chrs Macallister to come in from off of their couches, (obviously they had been working out or else how could they have been so impactful?) but MM picker Brady off and defended well and I think Mcallister shut down whomever and whatever went his way to a large extent!

So, my thinking is , even if we're NOT going to sign Woodson or Reed, why NOT bring them in for a look-see just to know who may be out there and available to come in should we need them down the line? What's it hurt to get to know these guys, watch 'em work and establish a relationship even if it isn't going to happen right now? It's a long season and there's plenty of opportunity for this to happen. Just look at the '09 season as a prime example where we didn't have anyone on the roster any better than Mike or Chris yet them came in against The Pats and Brady and Coach B and shut those mother's DOWN!

Just wanted to recall that magical game and what it took to tear N.E. a new one! That game was when I KNEW we had arrived!

Well jell Ya that's what I'm saying! What's not clear about it? The talk is Woodson and Reed yeah? Let's get 'em in and see so we either like what we see or remember they'd be good for a game or two ! Just say'in Chisssssss sake!

Don't take this as me saying No to bringing in Reed or Woodson (doubt it happens anyway). But McAlister was terrible in the few games we had him, & outside of the Brady INT, McKenzie wasn't much better. Both were released after only a few games. Bad examples.

agreed. CM was a disaster, and MM was only marginally better.

there was a reason these vets were on the street in november, and reed/woodson will sign big deals quickly. two totally different types of players. atleast do the comparison to sharper if anyone.

McAlister was hot garbage in N.O. McKenzie was decent and did have the big debut on MNF, but he had clearly lost several steps.

I don't think Reed compares to the two (he's much better at this stage than they were), but I do think Woodson may fit the category you describe.

I believe McAlister forced a fumble near the end of the Redskins game that allowed us to win the game. And for that I will always be a fan of C.M.
