I tell you what we single handidly have the best GM in the league ya boy (Loomis) putting in work. To our players i wanna say as a FAN thank you! class A organization with some
grind in every step.

The way we going, i'm talking LOMBARDI! Coach Lombardi, & Lombardi Trophy the way our organization is thinking. This made my day great work

Super pumped for Free agency now, Especially in April. #LETS GET IT

Slow down. ;)

He's just clearing cap space. We all knew that would happen.

Wait 2 weeks until Free Agency and see if he pulls in someone great. Then we'll bust out the beers!

I'll wait and see how troubled we'll be in the coming years with Brees's massive cap hits.

Down the road we'll be in a similar situation to the Patriots once Brady sails off into the sunset. Brees retires and possibly Payton and Loomis too, we'll take all the $$$ hits then and have a couple of down seasons while we go into rebuild mode.

Come on guys, last week it was "we'll see if we get some cap space" and now that it is working that way, due in large part to players being willing to restructure, you want to hold the enthusiasm?

Guess you just can't please some folks.

Everything can be restructured, and there is always going to be adjustments that need to be made. Unless you want to have a bottom feeder team of course

Today's moves just about evened the saints on the cap. Either way, the saints are gonna save another $10-12M on vilma and will's contract. Minus the draft allocation they should still be able to get a couple free agents...just like last offseason!

By then I'd be more worried about who's the QB after Brees. Without a stud QB, the Saints are terrible again.

I hope that we'll be able to swallow the hits without crippling us more than necessary. I'd love to see us make a transition between eras like the Packers did for Favre to Rodgers, but I'll be holding my breath.

New Orleans Saints under Sean Payton & Mickey Loomis:

2006: 10-6 regular season (first berth in NFC Championship game)

2007: 7-9 (no playoffs)

2008: 8-8 (no playoffs)

2009: 13-3 regular season (HFA throughout playoffs); won SB XLIV (Note: Saints are the last #1 seed to win it all).

2010: 11-5 Wildcard (lost to 7-9 Seahawks) when Marshawn Lynch goes "Beast Mode!" :covri:

2011: 13-3 (Won NFC South); lost in Divisional round @ 49'ers

2012: 7-9 regular season no playoffs

In seven seasons:

* 69-43 regular season record,
* 3 divisional championships,
* 4 playoff berths,
* 2 NFC Championship berths,
* 1 NFC championship, and
* 1 Lombardi

None of us should be satisfied of falling short. But if you're complaining that they are not good as HC & GM, you ain't payin' attention... or you're spoiled! :cool:

:gosaints:

Shout out to Owner Tom Benson because all of this restructuring requires shelling out massive amounts of bonus cash in the immediacy. Benson has been beyond awesome as an owner.

Today was major, i don't think some people realize how big of an impact today was our best receiver & both pro bowl guards just RESTRUCTURED plus Hawthorne, havent really started releasing alot of players and we still hold the keys to VILMA, SMITH, & HARPERS
Deals.

Free agency just got more interesting! believe dat

That would be my wish too, it depends what happens with whoever becomes GM and HC in the future.

Its not popping Champagnes type of day but today was a few beers kind of celebrating type day. These moves will allow the Saints to make a move or two in free agency and after Loomis decides on Vilma and Will Smith (imo keep Vilma and cut Smith) who's to say the Saints don't make a real splash in free agency ..... oh Reed and Spencer would be sweet

Good point. And if what we know about the Higgs boson subatomic particle is true, the universe may come to an end when another universe slurps us up at light speed. Let's see Loomis navigate through that one!
