15. New Orleans: Jarvis Jones, LB, Georgia
With the Saints moving to a 3-4 defense they desperately need a rush linebacker. Jarvis Jones would be a fantastic pick, and similar to Lotulelei he would be a steal at this juncture despite his injury concerns.

2013 NFL Mock Draft | Draft Hybrid

If the draft plays out this way I'd rather grab Lane Johnson. Talk on NFL network is Jake Long is looking for 11-12 million per year and Andre Smith around 8-9 mil a year so that means Bushrod will probably around the 6-8 mil a year range. We could draft Lane, lock him up for what ever the new max is on rookie contracts (5 years now I think) and his salary will be in the 2-4 mil range. I can't predict if Lane will be and All-Pro LT or not but Bushrod isn't as great as we all think and our offense had made him look much better than he truly is. We already have to consistently help Bushrod out with chip blocks which IMO means he's not really good enough to command 5-6 mil a year. Lane would be a much cheaper LT and not much of a drop off.

Johnson is a big-bad-*** tackle for sure. Now that it's getting crunch time, I really don't know what I would do at 15. I don't think we can go wrong.
I mean, if we were sitting at 28, I would be worried that we would select another Ingram, and we know how that's turned out so far.

I think Lane Johnson will be long by the time we're up. Either way, our FO has a knack for finding Pro Bowl quality O-Linemen in the later rounds. I think we need to focus on D, and if Jarvis Jones is there, MAN! We gotta take that dude. He'd instantly be the best pass rusher on the squad. I'm still beside myself at the fact that he may actually fall. Over the last two years or so, Jones has been one of the most dominating and ferocious defenders in the college ranks. The guy easily has top 5 talent, and if we land him, WOW!

Will anyone else be mad if we for some reason draft fluker from alabama? I honestly think the guy looked horrible at the combine.

At 15? YES! I'd rather us draft Marcus Lattimore in the 1st, before Fluker.

one of the supposed beauties of the 3-4 is being able to find pass rushing OLB's in the later rounds. Not saying it always happens but if you are just looking for a pass rushing OLB then there's Jenkins from Florida St. and a few others in the 3rd-4th. I'm not saying I would be opposed to Jones @15 and a lot will depend on what we do with Bushrod. I'm not high on signing a LT that consistently needs help to top tier money when (and this is in this mock draft) his replacement can be had for much, much cheaper.

I'm really starting the think if one of the top 3 CB's (Millner, Rhodes, Trufant) are there we will take one of them but in this mock they are not. We also have a lot of unknowns in our own defense like Junior, Wilson, Broughton that can be OLB pass rushers. I don't know what will happen in FA so it's extremely hard to predict a draft at this point. Just saying if it plays out like this I'd go with a top 3 LT, but that's just my choice.

Is Fluker even projected to play LT in the NFL or RT? I see him as more of a RT candidate.

The problem I see is there's no guarantee we get any of these good late round OLB's, we've got more chance of getting a good pass rusher by taking one of the top guys in the first round.

We'll see what happens in free agency but even if we got a guy like Kruger I'd still want a Jarvis Jones/Jordan/Ansah/Mingo/etc just in case one or the other doesn't work out.

And don't forget we're ultra-thin at OLB anyway we can't just stock up on UDFA OLB's if we go in a different direction in the first round and we fail to get any good linebackers in the late rounds.
