SP has said in the past and they clearly like drafting corners. I believe we will aquire needs in offseason like we always do and draft a solid corner/safety in the first. Some if you will recall SP saying elite corners are hard to come by. Dont remember the exact verbage he used.. Thats the direction i look for us to go in. Just throwing that out there

Ur close...he mentioned how the majority of ur good corners are high draff pics. The richard shermans and aneas williams of the draft r few n far between

Most of the top corners n the nfl came from the 1st round

Pretty weak CB class at the top. After Milner we can choose between a 5'11 CB that can't tackle or a 6'2 CB that can only play press or zone.

I really like Rhodes and trufant better than Milliner, but it's just because his hands are iffy. and I would be happy with any of the 3 at 15, and if banks runs a 4.4 at his pro day, maybe him.

I do like Slay and Amerson in the 2nd.

Look at the teams that have wasted high draft picks and big FA money on CBs in the past 5 years. They're not doing so good.

The idea of building this elite secondary to handle elite passers in this league is ridiculous.

Build a dominant front 7 and your secondary will become elite. Stopping a dominant passin game is all about getting pressure to te QB.

Look at the teams that focused on DLine and LBs the past 5 years. They're winning superbowls and championship games.

You sure a bout that?
Browner (free agent), Sherman (fifth round), Hayward (late second), Jennings (late second), Verner (fourth round), Finnegan (seventh round), McCourty (sixth round), Tramon Williams and Greer were both free agents also.
Their all not lockdown but those are good players.

Darelle Revis/leon hall/ jonathan joseph/joe haden/carlos rogers/janoris jenkins/aqib talib/

I could keep going...all of these guys r either 1st rounders r had 1st round potential.

Again im just echoing SP...most of ur quality corners are drafted early

Whats the SR infatuation with Rhodes. He was inconsistent has stiff hips and doesn't fit the defense Ryan employs . He will never be able to turn quick enough to handle NFL receivers in man coverage. His skill set would fit best in zone which is what Spags ran. Drafting him at 15 would not only be a reach but a wasted pick.

Banks ran a 4.58 at his pro day look for him to go in the 2ndround.

Sigh....we were talking about something SP said...and it was to tht effect and i remember wht the op was talking about.

Well you said those guys are few, far and in between and I disagree with that notion. I gave a list of guys in the NFL right now that are non-first round guys who are good players.

As I said in the other thread, most good corners are first round players, but that is true for almost every position in the NFL. Its a really broad statement and I'm not sure you can take much from it.

Yes but the statement when SP made it wasn't made about every other position in the league. He was talking about Corners in Specific. I tend to agree.

Yes those guys u mentioned come along but they are needles in a haystack.

All the guys i named didn't have to be unearthed...or weren't heralded as SURPRISES...they were legit 1st round corners which further cements my claim.

Oh well...until Draft day i suppose.

There's a good chance the top 3 corners are gone before we pick.
