With the newly hired CB and the interviews at ZEOs with xxxxx (I won't even pretend to spell his name), is the FO basically saying we are standing pat with our current safeties?

I think so... I've never been as down on Malcolm Jenkins as some others. Harper will stay based on his past performance and the size of his contract, but I think he could be upgraded.

I dont think they are saying that but its obvious that other areas are worse off lb and cb and dl. all positions can be upgraded

I think it's more a statement that our CBs sucked.

By the FO actions so far, they seem to be agreeing with your thoughts. And it appears we have 2 serviceable backups.

Not necessarily. It doesn't rule out a move in the draft, just probably not in free agency.

I think they're like "ok harper has a lot of dead money; let's see if jenkins pans out this last year". After next season i suppose both (thankfully) walk

Granted there's been Harper bashing for quite some time, but I've never seen so many ppl so down on Jenkins till after this past season. Whether Spag's scheme had sumthin to do with it or not, its quite apparent that neither are goin anywhere...atleast for 1 more season

Seems to be the implication.

I think they like the two young guys we have, Isa and Rafael. And we've so far retained the two veterans, Jenkins and Harper.

Adding a safety means cutting one of the two veterans, and since that hasn't happened yet, they seem to be indicating that they're ok with those two going into the season.

That said, they could, at any time, cut either one of those two. So nothing's precluding them from adding a safety. But the really exciting safeties are off the market already. So I'm not sure who they would add at this point other than maybe Ed Reed.

It seems that way, but it looks they want to get bigger at the CB's spot? I cant blame them with how big the WR's and TE's are getting.
