So what's the hurry? I understand on major highways, and the interstate.
The speed limit is 30 Mph going through a neighborhood. I'm doing 35, if you don't like it, too bad. I'm not going to do 60 mph. You are an idiot if you fly through an area like that..
Also, I'm on a two lane highway, speed limit is 55. I'm doing 60, I left on time, I'm in no hurry. If you don't like it, pass me. That's what the dotted line in the middle of the road means. Can't stand someone riding my bumper when I'm already doing 5 over.. if it was a four lane highway, I'd get out of your way, but I'm not, so suck it..

For some reason people here have recently started driving super slow on the highway. I'm talkin 30-35 MPH. I'm not usually in a hurry but that's just ridiculous.

you need to start looking into public transportation?

i gave up my DL about 3 yrs ago..and i love every minute of the drive-less lifestyle. a lot less frustration, for sure.another reason why i look beautiful. less stress=less wrinkles

stress will un -beautiful you.

Best way to deal with someone tail gating you is to let them see you flip up your rear view mirror so you can't see them anymore.

Na, I usually give a good hard pump of the brakes, that usually makes them back off.. if they rear end me, it's their fault anyway.

I would love not having to drive as much, but where I work, ain't no public transportation going that far out in BFE..

I love to drive. It's therapeutic for me to do 80 and have a the music playing.

As for tail gaters, when I was younger doing 95 mph in Memphis on a 5 lane interstate, I had a guy who thought he'd follow me too close. I don't mind tailing me if I speed but if you're too close ill let you know. There was no one around us for at least half a mile. I slammed my breaks from 95 to 10 mph. He nearly tagged my rear end. I sped back up and caught up and he's wondering what my prob was. I told him to back off. He had 4 other lanes to do 95mph behind me. Of course I won't put my life in that danger again, back then, well.....

Slamming on your brakes is too dangerous. Puts both the tailgater and you at too much risk.

Normally, I drive 3-4 mph over the speed limit. If someone starts to tailgate me, I just flip on my wipers and start spraying the windshield washer fluid. It takes about 5 seconds for the fluid to start hitting the car behind me and the guy to have to turn on his wipers. Usually they back off. If they don't, I hit the wiper fluid again and again and again.

They get the message and either back off or pass me with a scowl.

And, I have a clean windshield.

I slow down when this happens. And I'll let them ride me as I continue to slow down as long as it takes. Even if its a 20 mph differential. My favorite is when they start to flash their blight lights. Like that's going to make me speed up. And I'm always sure to wave and smile once they go around me.

So you're the one always in my way! Right lane Clyde! :smilielol:

Is there a phone stuck on their head by any chance???

I do not see what is so hard about talking on the phone and driving at the same time. I see people with either a bluetooth device or having bluetooth in their car driving 10 miles below the speed limit all the time.

I agree about the neighborhoods - people drive too fast on residential streets.

But the highway is a different matter. Though, as long as you're in the right lane, feel free to do 60 in a 55. But good lord, please don't just hum along in the left lane, oblivious to fact that cars are lined up behind you.

And if you're doing 60 in the right lane and the car ahead of you is doing 58 and you pull over to the left, just speed up for a few seconds to get around him and back into the right lane. It shouldn't take you 10 minutes to pass a single car. If you're not comfortable speeding up to 65 to pass the guy, then you just ease it back to 58 and stay behind him.

I've been noticing an increasing trend of slower drivers as well. Yesterday I was in a town with a speed limit of 35. People in front of me were going 25. This town has no dotted lines. I passed them regardless and no, they were not turning. Lately I've been noticing the 10 under to be occurring more and more frequently.

Not sure which neighborhood you are discussing, but in the city of New Orleans, non-divided residential streets (unless signed otherwise) are 25 mph. In suburban Metairie, they are 20 mph.

35 mph is way too fast to go go through a neighborhood with kids playing in front yards, IMHO. Which makes the ones trying to pass you even worse.

This is the case here as well. Residential streets are nearly always 25 or less. The only places I see 35 posted in residences are in divided or four lane streets. It drives me nuts when I see people doing 45-50 mph in these residential areas. There are kids and people crossing these streets all the time.

Thankfully, the local police do patrol this high traffic area fairly regularly.

What's worse though is people zooming in front of the freakin' supermarket. Me and my family damn near got run over as we were coming out of the store. I was tempted to kick the idiot's car, but that would have been a poor example for my kids.
