Loomis also said he and Coach Sean Payton met with Asomugha in New Orleans before the pair headed to the league owners meetings at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, which officially began Monday morning.

The Saints' general manager wouldn't give any sort of specifics on a possible contract offer from the Saints to Asomugha, but Loomis said the team is waiting on Asomugha to make a decision on where he wants to play next season.

Loomis also confirmed the obvious that the Saints were in the market for a cornerback like Asomugha even though the Saints just signed former Steelers cornerback Keenan Lewis to five-year contract worth a maximum of $26.3 million. Lewis' 2013 salary-cap figure is manageable enough (about $2.2 million) where the Saints feel like they can make a run at Asomugha.

Sounds to me like "hit it off" means, "Oh, we got along with him great, but we didn't offer a contract," or "Oh, we got along with him great, but he didn't accept our contract."

"Yeah, we hit it off," is the excuse you use after a date that went fine, but nothing special happened. As opposed to, "Oh my God, I had an amazing time with her."

The term "Saints" is a bit ambiguous since Loomis and Payton were in Arizona. Report was Nnamdi Asomugha had lunch with Rob Ryan who could have been the source of the story. I always take Larry Holder with a grain of salt.

Having said that Ryan could have told Loomis that the two of them hit it off well which sounds encouraging.

Got along but he didn't give the home state discount.

usually loomis doesn't comment on potential signings. For him to say something must mean a good thing IMO
