SR Non-Official Mock Draft First Round Thread!

Alright mock draft time again. This is the Non-Official mock draft that we did last year and we are going to do it again as many had fun with it last year. Myself and Nextyear are going to run it and any questions should be directed to one of us.
We will start the draft on March 20th at 8am with the Chiefs on the clock. Each GM has a 1 hour time block to make their pick. If you think you will not be able to make your pick in the 1 hour time slot send a list of your top 10 players and either myself or Nextyear will make it for you based off who is still available. When you make your pick please try to post a picture and brief reason why you are drafting that player for your team.
Please also don't rush the GM that picks before you to hurry and make his pick. If you would like to make your pick early before your time slot because the GM before you already picked feel free to, but you don't have to beofre your time slot is expired. If the guy before you has not made his pick and his time expired you can make your pick early just like in a real draft. Also please no trading of veteran players only picks because we cannot put a value on a current vet player.
Lets have some fun!!!!

This is a full 7 round draft and we will go all the way to MR. Irrevelant!

The Saints picks will be done by a poll with the majority vote getter at the end of the 1 hour being the pick. SR members who are not the GM of a team can also vote on it.
Please keep all trade discussions off the thread and use the PM system unless you are only annoucing that you are looking to trade up or down.

With the first pick in the 2013 Non Official SR Mock Draft, The Kansas City Chiefs Select.

Luke Joeckel OT Texas A&M
6'6" 306
Clearly, our release of Eric Winston showed our hands. We believe Joeckel has the ability to start day 1 at the LT spot, but why rush him.He can come in and play RT for us, while Brandon Albert occupies the left side. This gives us one of the best tackle duos in the NFL, while keeping Alex Smith on his feet. Joeckel is an elite pass protector, having faced plenty of top defensive ends in college football, and dominating them all. He's a technician, with great feet and a mean streak. Can adjust to speed or bullrushes, and is also one hell of a run blocker. We believe he'll one day be a perinial all pro, and we're estatic to have the oppertunity to select a franchise LT. We also want to keep Brandon Albert around, at the right price of course. We believe that our defense will keep getting better, but this OT will open up holes in our running game too.

This is my pick as well. Safest pick and the new front office can't afford to whiff on this one.

Ok the Jags pick is in...

Overview

Jordan signed with Oregon as a highly regarded prep tight end and only made the switch to the defensive side of the ball in the spring of 2010.
As a reserve defensive end for the Ducks in 2010 Jordan registered 33 tackles, including 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

To take advantage of his unique combination of burst off the snap and length, Oregon created a hybrid role for Jordan in 2011, lining him up as a stand-up pass rusher and moving him around to find favorable matchups. Demonstrating surprising fluidity for such a tall player, Jordan exploded for 13 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks, each of which led the team, earning First Team all-conference honors from Pac-12 coaches.

In 2012, Jordan showcased his versatility to the nation against Arizona State, lining up on the line of scrimmage as a stand-up defensive end, in the box as a linebacker or in the slot, covering inside receivers. Yes - in the slot on receivers, a spot usually reserved for defensive backs.

Rarely asked to play with his hand in the dirt as a traditional defensive end, Oregon helped protect Jordan as a run-defender as he lacks the bulk to consistently set the edge against 300 pound behemoths. Jordan's long arms and vision, however, allow him to disengage from most blockers quickly and he plays with a high-revving motor, often pursuing the ball-carrier yards downfield.

Jordan's extraordinary physical tools will likely land him in the first round, now the question is how high?

Analysis

Strengths: Rare athleticism for his size with loose hips and smooth footwork to move naturally in any direction. Looks like a basketball small forward in football pads with his tall, long frame and flexible joints, looking comfortable in space.
Fluid change of direction skills in his transition, quickly redirecting. Very good first step with natural bend and closing burst off the edge to flatten to the quarterback. Active and doesn't quit. Uses his length well with violent hand use, using quick mitts to make it tough for blockers to combat them.

Physical striker to separate man from ball with the arms to easily wrap and finish. Fiery demeanor and has a good head on his shoulders. Good awareness and experience lining up all over the defenses' front-7, even spending time covering the slot receiver and dropping in coverage. Still growing and sky is the limit with his athletic potential.

Weaknesses: Lean and lanky body type. Needs to add bulk to his frame and get stronger, but there are questions about how much weight he can add to his body. Lacks dominant upper body power to win with his hands. Still learning his pass rush moves and needs to develop in this area.

Needs to stay controlled, often overrunning the pocket or his intended target. Lacks experience putting his hand on the ground and rushing from a 3-point stance. Lacks a natural position and will be viewed as a defensive end by some and a strong-side linebacker by others.

Still raw in a lot of areas and will need time to grow at the next level. Strong durability concerns with various injuries over his career, notably a tender right shoulder that plagued him much of 2012. Only average production at Oregon with just 14.5 career sacks

Compares to: Chandler Jones, DE, New England Patriots - Although Jones is stronger and a bit more polished at this point in his development, scouts see that type of potential for Jordan plus he brings much more position versatility and upside.

The one thing our new head coach Gus Bradley learned from his former boss Peter Carroll in Seattle is the importance of speed, and speed throughout the entire team. And the one thing he coveted in this draft was what he calls a LEO - the weakside edge player. Put those together and you get an outside speed rusher and we believe that Dion Jordan is that elite LEO speed rusher. He's an athletic freak, he's versatile, and whether we use him in a 3-4 "Elephant" set or a 4-3 we think he'll be an asset to us and a threat to our opponents at all times and his ceiling is virtually unlimited.

Some newer mocks have the chiefs taking shariff Floyd. I think he's a good player, but they've tried that with Tyson Jackson and Glen Dorsey. I don't see the value of a 5 tech de with the first overall pick. You address your most important position, by pecking ordering of the premium positions (qb left tackle, 4-3 de) I fully expect teddy bridge water or jadeveon clowney to go first overall next year. I've witnessed just how good an OT joeckell is, and he's on par with the joe Thomas's. offensive linemen are your insurance, and we just, against my saying, spent our second rounder on Alex smith. I objected, they just didn't listen. Thanks for chase Daniel by the way hahahah

I agree. Floyd is looking good now, but the Dorsey/Jackson experiment (while both thrived in a 4-3 in college and were forced into a 3-4 role) left a bad taste in the chiefs mouths. Safe pick at 1. They don't need to get silly here. Lol
