Not NFL but pls bear w me.. (1 Viewer)

Last I looked, it was a 25point blow out, fans have nothing to cheer about the way Hornets are playing.

Flat out honest here. The Hornets are playing like bumble bees, they just aren't that great. Lebron James and the Heat will generate a lot of interest in opposing arenas these days. Deal with it. If I were to have gone to the game tonight, it would be to watch Lebron and the Heat. No I am not a Hornets fan.

Edit: I would have also worn a Saints jersey to the game.

It's the same thing when the Bulls came to town with Jordan. Not comparing LeBron to him career wise, but as a draw for ticket sales.

New Orleans is a football city, not a basketball city.

My point has nothing to do with the team's success. So what you're saying is that their's no crossover fandom (I am referring to New Orleanian Saints fans) for our city's bball team? I get the small amount of transplants in NO may cheer for opposing teams, but these are locals.

Probably not much crossover because this is a football city and state. There is also the difference between NBA and college basketball. I hate the NBA but I love college basketball, especially March Madness.

A lot of those locals will likely change their tune when the Pelicans start winning. We get a lot of Laker and Miami fans here at Thunder games every time they come to town. Not the majority by a long shot because we have a great fan base but certainly quite a few. But I don't live in NO anymore so I could be wrong.

Even though I'm a huge Thunder fan I always want the Pelicans to do well. If not for them we might not have a franchise here.

I guess I don't get it either. I don't recall New Orleans natives filling the dome in the early eighties rooting for the Niners or whatever top teams when we sucked.

It has to do with the NBA marketing strategy of showcasing star players so much. I don't know how to fix that.

All I do know is it has to make our team feel like **** when half of their "home crowd" is rooting against them. I mean, that could be the difference between a player wanting to stay here or leave for a more attractive market.

I go to a lot of Warriors games here in Oakland. We're a pretty good team. We deal with the same thing when the Lakers, Celtics, Thunder or Heat arrive. Not specific to your region. It will only bother you when your team is playing poorly. If it makes you feel any better, I saw some of it when CP3 was on the Hornets playing in the bay.
