It's no secret the Saints would like to add another CB. I found a list of remaining FA CBs and was wondering who you guys would like to see the Saints take a look at.

If I missed anyone please let me know and I will add them. Or if someone has signed somewhere I will remove them. Thanks.

Quentin Jammer, Shawntae Spencer, Cedric Griffin (in that order)

Yes, they're all a little older, but they are bigger and more physical corners adept at playing press man coverage. Their size and physicality also lends itself to better run defense and tackling. However, their age may lend itself to injury, but hey, there's not much left out there on the FA market.

Quentin Jammer - 79 Rating - 6'0" 204 lb - Age 33
A good-sized, physical corner with solid cover skills and above-average straight-line speed. He has been an ironman defender for the Chargers, missing just two games (plus a third start) in the past ten seasons. He has learned to compensate for a loss of top-end speed and explosive quickness with improved technique and reading skills and is effective in both man and zone coverage. He looks most comfortable when up in press alignment, where he can use his long arms and upper-body strength to jam and re-route receivers on their release. He is a big hitter when tackling and often tries to jar the ball loose rather than going for the interception when playing the pass.

Shawntae Spencer - 71 rating - 6' 01" 190 lb - Age 31
A good-sized cornerback with solid press cover skills and long arms. He has a strong upper body that allows him to get up and jam or re-route receivers at the line of scrimmage. He is more effective from a trail alignment than when pedaling and turning in space and can be a little choppy in transition to redirect and close on the ball. He still needs some work on route recognition and reading the quarterback's eyes. After signing with the Raiders as an unrestricted free agent in 2012, he ended up missing most of the season with a foot injury.

Cedric Griffin - 69 rating - 6' 0" 203 lb - Age 31
He has excellent athleticism, size and strength for a secondary defender. He fills the alley well in run support and understands angles and how to maintain leverage defending both the run and pass. He can be physical in block protection and stays active to the pile. Griffin is a good player and very productive when healthy, but there are durability and other concerns moving forward.

Although I am not sure he has anything in the tank (and has played poorly lately), it would not surprise me to see Ryan grab Routt for a 1 year league minimum contract as depth.

Isn't Sheldon Brown the 1 who almost knocked Reggie Bush outta the playoff game against the Iggles in 06'?

I like Elbert Mack more than anyone on that list. There are some big names but they are all old and haven't performed to high standards in years.

Jammer's play hasn't dropped off much but at the same time it was never really that good. If the Chargers wont pick him back up despite needing corners so badly they picked up Johnny Patrick, it should say enough.

Jammer is the second worst cb in free agency according to pff..i'd pass, it's not like he's "had an OL coach for DL who couldn't play him in the right scheme" anyway.

I'd love to get back mack and try some with winfield

LOL, actually you're right. It says everything to me. The Chargers thought the same thing about Brees and Sproles. Sign him up!!!

mike jenkins at one time was a pro bowl man press corner for the cowboys, wonder if rob ryan could bring him in and return him to that.

Whoever we sign should be 6 ft tall at least. Charles Woodson would be the best candidate but hes lost to much speed to play CB. Quentin Jammar is more run support and doesn't play man well anymore. Marcus Trufant lost to much speed as well and is to small.

Theres not really any decent FA options. The best is probably Sam Shields who is also slightly smaller then one would want for a press cover corner.

I'd like to see us go after Routt. Worse comes to worse we could resign Mack, I wouldn't have a problem with that at all.
