I am wondering how drafting at the 15th poisition affects the cap for NO. If they traded back to the 20-25 area would they still be able to get a player they want and save a million or two on the cap. I believe the cap is now structured as to where you are drafted so there is not much mystery to the slotting moneywise anymore. Could this affect NO's decision to stay at 15?

I don't think that difference in draft picks will affect the cap by 1 or 2 million. That sounds like a lot. But interesting to think about. Anyone know where we're currently at capwise?

The were at 1.7 below before the Smith deal.

Almost no difference.

Last year, the 15th, 20th, and 25th selections were Irvin, Wright, and Hightower. Their first year cap hits were 1.7M, 1.5M, and 1.4M respectively.

So, you're talking 200-300k savings. aka Small Potatoes.

Yeah. I did some more research too and realized the same thing

I thought this thread was about the draft day hat, lol. Not a fan of this years model (s)...Hopefully a big fan of our pick though!

Im wondering how we are going to make this work because we are going to have to penny

If they make a move on Ivory, won't that give us enough to cover the whole draft? We don't have 7 picks.
