I'm in the market for a portable gaming system and was curious as to whether or not the Vita would be worth the plunge?

I'm reluctant because of the cost and because the original PSPs didn't last too long before games stopped being developed for them.

MLB the Show is one of the driving factors leaning me towards PS rather than a DS.:ezbill:

Could anyone with any firsthand experience lend me some guidance?

Classic arcade pinball on the ipad is the answer to your question.

Ipad 4 crushes graphics capability of PS Vita and is far more functional. I'd just stick to IOS. Vita is a sinking ship Sony is not happy about. Developer support is anemic and has done nothing but atrophy. There seems to be a movement of widespread apathy toward the idea of an expensive, specialized gaming handheld. 3DS is suffering too.

Not really an "iguy", but I definitely can see the glaring issues with buying the vita. Where does Sony get off selling a handheld for slightly under console price? It really is ridiculous. I really wouldn't have even considered it had it not been for "the show". That, and I'm on the move quite a bit with this new job. Thanks for the input fellas.

while that may be true it would be nice if they had some better games for the iPad and iPhone...most of them are good for wasting a few minutes whilst taking a wdf but that's about it

Your pets can't play along with a Vita.

Bought a Vita with MLB the Show before I went on a trip to Romania. There isnt a whole lot of options as far as games out there or at least I couldnt find any. The Show isnt bad but be warned it's an extremely watered down version. If I were you I would go with whatever hand held Nintendo has unless you just really need a portable version of MLB.

Bought a vita at launch and sold it to a coworker his past Christmas. Maybe played it 10 times. Bought my 3DS XL at launch and have yet to put it down for more than a week. Better game collection on the 3DS IMO. Can't wait for the handheld Arkham....

The handheld Arkham is the only thing that's keeping me from selling my Vita, just because the graphics will likely be better than 3DS's. I got the Call of Duty bundle with some Christmas gift cards thinking "hey, cod on the toilet!" Unfortunately, the game is terrible and you can't even connect to a match 80% of the time.
I play my 3DS XL all the time too, Luigi's Mansion was reason enough to own one for me.

My wife got hers over Xmas. She loves it. She likes Lumines, and any of the PSN games we get from Playstation Plus for free. She didn't finish AC: Liberation, but she's played through most of the other big titles.

I have to pick up Lumines. That was one of my favorite games on psp.
