Saints | Colston injury update
Mon, 20 Nov 2006 09:36:56 -0800

Updating a previous report, Jimmy Smith, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (ankle) suffered a high ankle sprain, according to the club, and x-rays on the injury were negative. As reported, Colston's status for Week 12 is uncertain.

This is good news. Even if he is unable to play Sunday we know he'll be back this season.

I can't wait. Get well soon.

Aren't the highankle sprains bad. Or am I mistaken??

Yes, they are. Depending on how severe, could be 6 weeks or more. But it's not nessecarily a High Ankle Sprain. KFFL is reporting the same article that wa posted earlier. Sean Payton has said he hasn't heard HAS yet. I would assume Payton would be the first to know, not the Times Picayune.

yeah, there is no way he plays this week..they can linger for weeks

I sprained my ankle back in my junior year during a basketball game, and I still have problems. Although I didn't have a great training staff at my disposal:)

A "High Ankle Sprain" can involve torn liagments that need to be surgically repaired. You might have needed a screw put in and never got it.

Colston day-to-day after ankle sprain

ESPN.com

New Orleans Saints star rookie receiver Marques Colston was listed as day-to-day Monday with a sprained left ankle sustained in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

"We'll treat it and see how much pressure he can put on it," Saints coach Sean Payton said. "It's just a matter how much weight it can support and how quickly he can come back off of it. Each day we'll get an idea maybe a little bit of his progress."

Are most ankle sprains high?

Amazing how every time a top Saints player (e.g. Deuce) gets an ankle sprain, we always hear later that it's a "high" ankle sprain. Are we just unlucky or are most ankle sprains high sprains?

Most sprains that keep players out for any notable length of time are high ankle sprains. High Ankle Sprains are serious multi-week affairs. "Sprains" typically aren't.

He's "day to day"... so it can't be too bad. If he misses any time at all it'll be this week. I'd rest and treat it hard this week, and have him ready next game (after ATL).

It's probably just a regular sprain, which means if the swelling will go down he'll be ok.
