Yesterday my 9 yr old was watching the game with me and I was saying, early in the game, that Brees was the MVP. I went on and on about how much he brought to the team and how we finally got us a real QB. He was a class act. Well, towards the end of the game, after the 3rd INT, my son looks at me and says, "MVP? He doesn't look like a MVP now, does he?" I wanted to slap him, but I just had to chuckle. Little fart!

I would have picked up my cellphone like I was taking a call, posed a look of shock and reflective sadness on my face, calmly put down the phone and announce:

"Son, I'm sorry but... Santa Claus has died. There won't be a Christmas this year. Or any year. Ever again."

WOW! Tough but effective.

I would have chucked it at his head. Just like I did my remote at the floor after the third INT.:^)

That reminds me of something my 5 year old said as we were spending a normal summer evening watching the Astros on tv this past season. The Astros had been playing really well, but had been horrid for a few games. I was sitting silently as the Astros continued to put up zero runs, and my son turned to me during the 9th inning and said "Don't the Astros remember how to play baseball anymore??" That was topped by another one of his comments during a different game when Brad "Lights Out" Lidge was blowing yet another save....my son said "I think he left the lights on, Mommy."....out of the mouths of babes!
