The way I see the NFC Playoff picture (1 Viewer)

I'm looking at these teams...

I really don't see the Rams, Vikings, Packers, or Eagles (without McNabb) going to the Playoffs...

I also just can't see the 49ers going...

That leaves a total of 7 teams. If we beat Atlanta on Sunday, they'd need to gain 3 games on us to beat us...

I really think that if we can win Sunday we'll be on the easy road to the Playoffs...

Of course we'll need to win a few more, but we'd have to be horrible to not make the Playoffs...

So I see Sunday's game as pretty darn big...

I agree totally. Eagles aren't going now after losing McNabb.

That leaves this.

NFC North- Bears going, #1 seed, Vikes imo are not in Playoff picture after last loss.
NFC East - Dallas and New York going, fight for div. Philly is done
NFC West - Seattle goes, still has games against Denver and SD.
NFC South- Carolina, NO, and Atlanta still have a shot. I think if we win against Falcons the playoff picture becomes much clearer on atleast who is going.

The other reason that this game is so important is that the Saints need to prove that the Monday night game was no fluke. That would accomplish a lot for the team's confidence and reputation.

Wins the next two weeks, besides the obvious benefit of extra marks in the win column, would give us tiebreakers over two more teams competing for wildcards.

Check out Philly and St. Louis's schedules. Not pretty. The Niners and Rams play each other this week, so one will take a hit. The Rams also still have to play the Bears. Philly, who we also have a tiebreaker over, still has to play at Indy, at NYG, and at Dallas. They won't be in the playoffs.

I agree with you that winning is the key. We're in control of our destiny at this point, and we've only got one NFC loss. We need to keep it that way.

No. Without McNabb the Eagles are done. If you don't think we can beat SF then I don't see a point in even playing anymore this season. And St. Louis is not very good either...

I don't know why everyone is saying the Vikings are out it. Most everyone seems to think at least one 9-7 team is going to make the playoffs.

I see the Vikings making a nice run with this schedule:

The Bears looks like an unwinnable game but the Vikings almost, and should have, beat the Bears in the first meeting. Plus the Vikings just got their best WR back from an injury. I wouldn't rule out a team that has the #1 rush defense and a solid offensive line just yet.

They are giving up 59.6 yards rushing per game, that is less than the 2000 Ravens defense and if they finish the year with a number like that they would be the first team since the 2000 Ravens to give up less than 80 yards per game.

They score points on special teams, they have a decent running game and if Troy Williamson ever decides to quit dropping passes they could be deadly.

They have to win this week against the Cardinals and I think they will pound them in the ground before going to Chicago. I think there defense is good enough to make Grossman have another blow up game and if they pull the upset then look out, if not they could easily put a long win streak together but it would make every game a must win. Without a doubt they are on the outside looking in at this point but something as small as Troy Williamson simply not dropping passes is all it would take to make this team a force in the NFC.

I also think the Rams still have a shot to make a run. They have played like crap and I think they are a bad team but when you play the Raiders, Cardinals, 49ers and Redskins going down the stretch then it is very possible. If they just beat those teams then they will be sitting at 8-8. I think the Vikings /Rams game will have playoff implications for at least 1 team at the end of the year.

It just shows how bad the NFC is when I have to pick two teams that have lost a combined 9 in a row to come out from the middle of the pack to make a playoff run.

I would say the 49ers could put together a run but until they can go on the road and keep a game close, much less win they are not a threat, especially with 4 of their last 6 games on the road and 3 of those games coming with teams that have a 6-4 record or better.

I'm not going to even worry about what other teams are doing. If I figured things out correctly, the Saints control their own destiny. There's 6 games left this season and if we win them all the worse we can do is get the second seed in the playoffs. Can we win all six games? Yes we can but actually doing it is a whole other thing. I won't start worrying about what everyone else is doing until its absolutely necessary. We just have to take care of our own business.
