Peter King "Peace Out" on the Saints (1 Viewer)

Midnight draws night for the '06 Cinderellas
I didn't realize how illiterate he was for a man who makes his living as a journalist.
And no team is more desperate than these Birds this weekend
Oh, I beg to differ. I don't think Vick & Co. care who they disappoint.

You guys take this stuff too serious. Who cares what they think :dunno:

Usually I don't have a problem with Peter King. I just think he's wrong in his assessment regardless of whether he's ultimately right in his pick or not. Plus, the phrase he was looking for is "draws nigh' not "night". Just makes a man who makes his living by writing look stupid.

Against the Ravens, Steelers, and Bengals the Saints have managed to make the "experts" (Clayton, Salisbury, King) look like absolute geniuses with their predictions of a late season collapse. I loathe that fact. I want nothing more than the team to wipe the smug smiles off these talking heads. Will they do it?

yeah but to disregard what they've done thus far especially in light of our prolific passing numbers and say "Hey it's the SOS" (as many 'fans' have done) is short-sighted. This just reinforces the notion that anything good the media says about the Saints will only come under duress. (look that one up Petey)

every week since week 2 we've played teams that needed a win desperately. Can't we play 1 team coming off a win.

How come these so called experts like king don't post their pick records every week along with the picks ?? Maybe cause they STINK at predicting

Exactly.... You can hate them all you want, but what exactly have the Saints done to disprove them, the win i wanted the most was against the Steelers. Everyone had them winning, plus a guarantee from the fat head known as Joey Porter... I think that was the game that the Saints should of won to prove everyone wrong, and make them shut their mouths, that was a HUGE disappointment to me. Not only did they prove all of the "experts" right, but they did it in true Saints fashion by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.... Not only that they've added more fuel to the fire by coming out a week later against Cinci and pretty much blew their own foot off again... Sooooo everything they have done thus far has proven them right, its up to our boys to come out Sunday and make all of these "experts" shut their mouths, the question is will they?? I certainly hope so, but i can't say that i'll be shocked if once again we turn the ball over 3 to 4 times and blow it because of our inability to protect the football, i hope that we take care of business though it would be nice to sweep the dirty birds and put a nail in their playoff coffin.

We've dropped three of our last four, but we've at least shown up, and actually outgained the other team in two of the three losses, failing because of turnovers, with our offense moving the ball easily on almost everyone, and our defense did pretty well against an explosive Panthers team for most of the game until they finally ran out of gas.

On the other hand, the Falcons were whipped, just dog-whipped, by the 2-8 Lions, beaten straight up by the 2-8 Browns and thumped pretty good by the Ravens. In addition, they're pretty beat up, and their vaunted running attack can no longer find the end zone. I'm certainly hoping I hear the sound of their bus starting up.....

My sense is we're the better bet this weekend. We've spent the last three weeks winning one road game decisively and battling back and forth with two dangerous teams before falling short. The Falcons have just folded in the second half of two of the last three games. I'd almost like to see them play decently for a quarter and THEN have us start pile driving them just to watch them actually throw a towel in.

Oh that killed me too. We deserved to win those games but we wrecked our own good Karma with the damned bullet holes in our boots. UUUUHHGGGG

It always amazes me that everyone cares so much what others think.

The Saints have done nothing to make people talk well about them over the last thirty years.

Fixed.

Everyone gets so bent out of shape about Saints never getting mentioned alongside perennial winners in the NFL. But in their 30 year history all they've done is won a single playoff game six years ago and had the league's best defense for a few years about 15 or so years ago.

Lots of teams in the NFL win regular season games. Lots of teams in the NFL this season are in playoff position with 5 to 7 wins.

The Saints aren't special. They have never been special because they have never proven themselves to be special. We are talking about a franchise whose most memorable moment is some third stringer receiver/punt returner fumbling a football. That's a far cry from Dwight Clark's catch, the Immaculate Reception, and so on.

The Saints aren't going to get any respect and aren't going to get chatted up in the national media until they accomplish something of significance on the football field.
