What Was The Best Decade To Grow Up In?? (1 Viewer)

I am a Child of the 80s (meaning grew up, not born in, the 80s) and, IMO, the 80s were the best decade to come of age in. We had some of the best pop culture- movies like Back To The Future, Ghostbusters, A Christmas Story and all the John Hughes stuff; TV shows like Growing Pains, Who's The Boss?, Family Ties, and The A-Team and music, that while inferior to that of the 60s and 70s, saw the heydey of some great bands like Journey, Guns n Roses and Def Leoppard... Also, the 80s had just the right balance of innocence and technology- we still understood the concept of going outside to play, and using our imaginations- yet we also had Atari, Intellivision, arcade games and the advent of the home computer to keep us entertained. Plus, you could still ride your bike to the mall without being in too much danger, or go to school without being searched for weapons. So, being as objective as you can, which decade do ya'll think was the best to grow up in- and why??

The 1960's, El Lay by far. I wasnt born then and wasnt alive at the time, but IMHO that decade rocked, it had anything you wanted and you got away with everything too, no AIDS too, the sexual revolution was coming alive and it is still is radical even from today's standpoint, you had Vietnam, the Civil Rights movement, the whole countercutlture, rock music was going thrugh a radical change, drugs like LSD were just exploding into appearance.

It may have been a turbulent decade, but you know it redefine our country in a way. It was a very crazy time and people dont seem to how to understand it een now,

But thats the decade I think I would want to live in, it was a pretty wild decade.

As conservative As I am now, I think the 60's were a thing that should have happened. A lot of things hads to happen and to end in tis country, things like segregation and racism the open kind at least in politics.

Thats a pretty importnat thing to be remembered by if you ask me.

Wasnt easy but it had to be that way you know.

I didn't grow up in the 90's but looking at my sisters who did I'd have to say the 90's. They really had it good.

Yeah but they had reruns and access to old music. It was all brand new to them.

The 80's? What a cesspool of a decade. Reagan, Iran-Contra, cocaine, the early "digitized" music, turqouise and hot pink, Central American death squads killing jesuits with U.S. military support, etc...

The 90's? Clinton, a gulf war where we DIDN'T occupy Iraq, A dress code that satisfied gangsta rappers and rock and roll kids at the same time (dickies and chucks, flannel jackets...), Pulp Fiction, Cypress Hill... I'll take that over any of the crap within a decade of the 90's. My Chemical Romance? Psht; please.
