What draft picks do we have for next year? Not trying to get ahead of myself, just curious. Thanks!

What draft picks do we have? Not the wish list. Thanks though...

I may be mistaken but I think we have all our picks plus an extra 4th which could become a 3rd if Stallworth re-signs with the Eagles and maybe an extra 7th from the Gandy trade.

1-1st
1-2nd
1-3rd
2-4th one being a condiotnal 3rd if Stallworth signs a contract.
1-5th
1-6th
No 7th. Traded to Dallas for Shanle
We have a late pick from Atl for Gandy but not sure which rd.

Here it is:

1st Round: Saints
2nd Round: Saints
3rd Round: Saints
4th Round: Saints
4th Round: Kansas City (Michael Bennett)
4th Round: Philadelphia (Donte Stallworth)*If they resign him it becomes a 3rd
5th Round: Saints
6th Round: Saints
7th Round: Falcons(Wayne Gandy)*Conditional pick prob. will end up being a 6th

7th Round: Saints (Given to Cowboys for Shanle)

We'll also probably get a couple of compensation picks.

Not likely. Drew Brees was a FA signee (as was Scott Fujita). I suspect his production will pretty much destroy any compensation for FAs lost.

Hmm, how does the calculations for that work anyways? I wouldn't surprised if we got a 7th round comp pick, which might not seem like much, but you never know.

You know, no one is really sure.

It's basically some arcane unknowable formula which takes into account

Number of FAs lost vs number signed
Quality of FAs lost vs quality signed

"Quality" being determined by salary, playing time, and postseason honors.

Considering Drew Brees has a 60 million contract and will be in the running for like 50 postseason awards, he's pretty much going to single handidly "compensate" us for any FAs we lost.
