Fallout 4 (1 Viewer)

blogshakalaka said its terrible. I'm not sure who to believe.

blogshakalaka. Always believe blogshaklaka. Plus all the prior Fallout games were terrible bug hunts with 5 minutes of action mixed between hours of collecting and doing boring missions. I'm sure this will be more of the same since apparently lots of people love doing that.

And right in the article praising it are two of the reasons I don't like the franchise:

"Of course, as is the tradition with developer Bethesda Game Studios’ open-world RPGs, the main story isn’t nearly as gripping an attraction as the huge number of well-written side quests you’ll come across just by wandering through the ruins of the Boston area, now known as The Commonwealth. I found it difficult to complete even the most basic point-A-to-point-B task without being sidetracked at least twice by enticing detours. An abandoned comic book publisher office? How can I not explore it? Boston’s famous Fenway Park? Gotta see what’s become of that. A crumbling high school with heads on pikes outside? I bet there’s great loot in there! Practically tripping over new discoveries like this, I feel like a kid on Easter whose parents are bad at hiding the candy."

If I wanted to look at cool scenery I would watch a movie, not play a game. And the little side quests are just a cheap way to make up for the lack of a decent overall story.

and

"Perhaps because this adventure is such a long haul, Fallout 4 is a bit overeager to hook us in the beginning. After a brief glimpse of pre-war life in Fallout’s familiar-but-strange near-future and a retelling of the events on the day the bombs fell in 2077, we barely have time to get our hands dirty in the post-apocalyptic era before Fallout 4 throws us into a big action moment: You’re given a suit of the big, stompy power armor and a heavy weapon, and put into an intense brawl against the series’ most iconic monster."

They do this and then you have to play for 50 hours to come close to feeling this powerful again. I want to be powerful in a game I want to kick ***. I don't want to spend 50 hours to become powerful only to have nothing left to do but walk around killing mutated bugs and exploring run down buildings.

Even the glowing reviewers struggle to figure out why they like it:

"Its user interface is often too opaque, and at times Fallout 4 has some of the same technical issues as Bethesda's previous games, from strange AI quirks to performance hitches and actual hard locks of the software. It's frequently unforgiving. "

i like how widge goes through the trouble to justify his hatred of something he will never play

Similar to the Uncharted series, all Fallout games are dumb. This one will be no different. Terrible, clunky combat to go with a terrible, clunky story.

I don't find Fallout or Uncharted anything alike. Uncharted is like watching a movie with a main character who is not Nathan Fillion. Fallout is just hot garbage, though slightly better than MGSV.
