It is going to be hard to make cuts this year. This has to be one of our best years in a long time for Rookie pick ups.

First year guys possible to make roster in my eyes are
- of course all 4 draft picks. (except maybe david oneymata if we think we can sneak him on to PS. If not he makes it too.)
-Ken Crawley
-DeVante Harris
-Erik Harris
- Tommy Lee Lewis
- Atleast on of the O-line guys that were undrafted.

Can't some of u guys who do projected 53 man roster show me what u have? Would love to see how many of these guys u have making the 53 roster.

Erik Harris is a safe bet to make the roster we have 6 safeties and usually keep 5 Trae Elston will probably end up on the practice squad.

With Keenan Lewis's injury concerns we could very will keep both Crawley and Harris.

Oline we normally keep 9 and right now only 8 look worth a roster spot, Armstead, Unger, Streif, Lelito, Peat, and Kelemete along with rookies Allen and Turner. Avery Young has the talent but is injured and has yet been able to practice. I think our 9th lineman will he added at the end of preseason either off waivers or through a trade.

At WR it could be a tough cut, Cooks, Snead and Thomas are locks and that leaves room for 2 more. Coleman , Lewis, RJ Harris and Jake Lampman seem to be the ones to watch.

TE UDFA Rashaun Allen is one who could be a tough cut he is already a good blocker and getting better as a receiver and is more athletic than Manhertz and Griffin.

Front 7 seems set at this point Rankins and Onyemata will make it as rookies. I don't see any UDFAs making it at this point. Tapp and Tull though could be a battle to watch. Tull doesn't have the length or bulk to take on a lineman. I would like to see Tull moved to OLB and use him as a pass rush specialist it would seem to be a better fit than DE.

RB will have a tough cut we should keep 5 with 1 FB and Ingram and Spilled aren't going anywhere. Lasco, Hightower, Murphy and Cadet are going to be fighting for 3 spots with Lasco's performance a dn Hightower's age, he seems to be the odd man out at this point.

Edit inadvertently forgotten about Tony Hills he provides solid depth at OT and should be our 9th lineman.

There are two names in particular on the O-Line I don't want to see go.

1) Jack Allen
2) Tony Hills

I think Murphy makes the team due to his all-around versatility. Lasco has impressed too much (so far) not to make the team, and he is young. It should come down to Hightower and Cadet, in my opinion.

Probably Hightower given that choice, but maybe Lasco can be the backup to Ingram. It's a high quality problem for sure.

If Hightower has to go, I wouldn't be surprised if Payton "threw him a bone" and worked out a plan to send him to a winning team like the Patriots. He was a major spark for us those last few games of the previous season.

On the other hand, if the O-Line turns out to be an issue for our running game, we may want to keep a bruiser such as Hightower. He has the ability to move the pile and fight for extra yardage. That's certainly not something we can expect from Cadet.

Murphy is the best returner on the team and had some good runs with the offense I think Cadet and Hightower may be the odd men out if we keep 4 as I think Lasco can be a backuo to Ingram. Payton may keep 5 backs with the intent that Hightower veteran presented and how he ended last season on a high note may make him a reliable backuo thiugh I think youth wins out in the end.

1.Ingram
2. Spiller
3. Lasco
4. Murphy (KR & PR)

The practice squad is empty I presume; still have to go through waivers though
Jack Allen for sure; hoping he has other talents on the O-line
Tommy Lee Lewis has a future
Daniel Lasco or Cadet may be a tough call

If they cut Hightower, he will be on speed dial of he does not sign elsewhere

Watch for Tommylee to return more kickoffs and punts. This will be a sign that Payton is considering replacing Murphy with him.

Look for Crawley, Harris, and Harris to get more reps with the 1s and 2s. I think Payton has noticed all of them, but there are only 53 slots + 6 PS slots.

If all the RB's stay healthy, I think Lasco will make the 53, but it will be close. If someone is nicked, Lasco will make it easily. I think Cadet is definitely on the bubble, and possibly Murphy.

Tommy Lee will have to start screwing up quickly to not make this team

Kid reminds me of Cooks, but with a little more shake and tackle breaking ability. I'm going right now to check his 40 time. :hihi:

PRO DAY: 4.5 40, 10' broad jump. Definitely has live legs.

Practice squad has 10 slots it was 8 until a couple of years ago.

I'm wondering if Hightower doesn't get cut on final cutdown just to avoid having his salary fully guaranteed.

REALLY?? He seems much faster.

I didn't even see him at that jet sweep at the goal line. The ball hiked and we scored. Kid is fast. And fearless. He plays WAY bigger than his 5'7" frame. Someone compared him to a WR version of Sproles.

I don't think we have any battle at TE: Fleener, Hill, Hooman. Probably stash one on the practice squad.

I like Murphy but don't love him like I did last year. I think he's a decent stopgap until we find something better. Has Tommy Lee returned kicks/punts before? He looked ok in the one that I saw last week.

Ingram/Spiller are locks. I think Lasco could supplant Hightower as Ingram's backup but also has enough versatility to be Spiller's backup. So, those 3 and probably Murphy. Cadet would be decent and Hightower is also solid. Those guys will be on speed dial.

At Fullback it's got to be Kuhn, which kinda sucks for the other guys because they all showed promise. Probably stash one on the practice squad. I'm crazy excited about Kuhn though.

If we go with 5 at WR: Cooks, Snead, Thomas, Coleman, Lewis. Some other guys have shown flashes, but four of those guys really stand out and one is really tall.

We'll see how it goes for the next few games, but I think Grayson could take over the backup role. Heir apparent to Brees? Who knows, but I think he might be capable and that would free up a backup spot. McCown is solid but I also don't think that his phone will be ringing off the hook. Would probably still be there if we need him.

CBs are hard because of injury. Ideally, you have Lewis, Breaux, Swann, Williams and Crawley/Harris (one goes to PS, one makes the cut). With our injuries you may have to keep both Crawley and Harris. I don't think Finnegan makes it but he'll give the young guys a push and some veteran presence. We'll keep his number around just in case.

At Safety: Byrd, Bell, Vacarro, Harper. I like Harris and Elston. Can we keep 6?

Well, now I'm in it.....I'm working on a 53 projection...
