Just curious: Former Saints offensive players since 2006 (1 Viewer)

None that I can recall. Of the players that have left, the most talented ones were offensive linemen. Goodwin had an ok stint with SF. Carl Nicks likely would've had a solid career with Tampa had it not been for MRSA. Jamal Brown didn't do much. Jermon Bushrod?

Bush and Ivory have probably had the most success after leaving us. Graham, Stills and Robinson are pending.

Darren Sproles made 2 All Pro and 2 Pro Bowl teams after he left. He also just received a contract extension (we moved him because he cost too much and we thought he was fading).

Bush- as previously mentioned.

Kinda deep but isn't Andrew Tiller in line to possibly start at guard for the 49ers?

Other than that Bush, Bell, Ivory were all highly efficient role players here that were given the workhorse load and shined.

Sean Payton is so under appreciated as far as fitting his offensive system. And even if he has his shortcomings the scheme consistency that he brings has saved so many resources from going to waste. Unfortunately the defensive inconsistency has been a huge resource black hole at the same time.

Sean Payton's system + Drew Brees ability = We will make you better than you actually are.

Strictly because of that, you'd think WR/TE would be LINING up to come here.

Bush for sure.

I think you're right to point out that Sproles had some success after leaving New Orleans - but his numbers were pretty comparable. He had just a bit more success from scrimmage with the Saints but the difference isn't that significant . . . and he actually had more success as a punt returner in Philly than with us (perhaps due to not sharing the job like he did with the Saints).

In this little horse race, I'd put Sproles in the lead only because he hasn't faded. If the rest of the Eagle O had been as consistent, they wouldn't have missed the playoffs last season.

Bush is in the sunset phase of his career. I'm sure he'll have some mention on this board this season for his first splash play. He'll also be mentioned when he inevitably misses games with an injury.

Ivory benefited, finally, from being in a run-first offense last season. Plus he was healthy enough long enough to break out, too. He's with Jax now, so we'll see if he can continue.

I think the question was who did better after leaving the Saints offense. I don't think Sproles actually performed better with the Eagles than he did with the Saints - he just didn't drop off. Bush, Ivory, and Bell all clearly exceeded their production with the Saints after they moved to other teams.

Hence the comparisons across systems of offense that other posters have brought up. None have been part of a playoff win, which should matter most to a fan :mwink:
