What do we think?

I was surprised to see McCown in the game for so long. It seemed similar to having Coleman in the game...are we giving them a chance to prove why they should stay on the roster?

Grayson impressed me on the last drive. He got little help from his Wide Receivers but I thought he showed poise and control leading the team down the field. With better receivers at his disposal, I think we may have scored.

To be sold on Grayson potential at this point, I needed to see him do more with that last pass than force a pick.

Guys who have 'it' tend to thrive in those situations. He would have thrown the TD or given a receiver a better throw to have a shot at. Nice that he moved the team down so still see it worth some investment, but had he closed the deal in that moment I would feel more like we have something.

Grayson is clearly not our future.

When you see a true future face of a franchise at qb they look pretty amazing even from the beginning. Grayson isn't a rookie and there's still "0" wow factor. Case in point, think of Cam Newton as a rookie....confident, strong, etc. Or simply watch Dak Prescott....he has the same swagger. On the other hand Grayson looks the opposite and of course there's little magic either. He'll be a career backup at best.....but I believe he'll never be a great starter in the NFL....just my opinion, but I say move on. Last night he didn't look comfortable, he didn't control the time or the offense on any drive, but especially not on that final drive.

Grayson has been absolutely dreadful when we play out of the huddle. When we go no huddle, like what he mostly ran in college, he looks pretty good. I think he is a guy that is going to take a few years to develop. I still don't think he will ever take a snap as a Saint, the same thing I thought when we drafted him.

Give Grayson a chance. Cam Newton was not only a first round selection, but the first pick in the whole draft. Grayson was a third rounder.

I also think there's a huge aspect of being a backup that most of us probably don't see
I'm sure the backup qb is integral to preparing the QB for the games
On those qb challenge vids you can see a clear rapport between Drew and Luke
Grayson always seemed like the little brother they had to drag around

McCown is clearly the #2 QB.

Grayson is clearly not our future.

A QB either has it or he doesn't and Grayson never had it.

:plus-un2: to all of the above.

From a technique standpoint he has major flaws

His release point is too low so he plays shorter.
He throws off his back foot too much.

This is the kind of stuff you expect cleaned up in your 3rd year.

To overcome that you need to have some superstar quality like
Great scrambling or clutch throws or ability to read and anticipate

Grayson doesn't have that.

Although he's better than Sean Canfield I suppose so our drafting of
Qbs has improved.
