no, No, NO, NOOO! What is wrong with people?

It is probably pure mischief but way out of bounds IMO. As a parent, I would be infuriated if this was happening near my house. I think the dads in the area need to mount up and roll out.

Residents of a South Carolina town are on edge after being warned that people dressed as clowns were spotted trying to lure children into the woods.

“There [have] been several [conversations] and a lot of complaints to the office regarding a clown or a person dressed in clown clothing talking to children or trying to lure children into the woods,” read a letter sent by the property management company which owns the Fleetwood Manor apartments in Greenville. “At no times should a child be alone at night, or walking in the roads or wooded area at night,” the property manager warned.

Greenville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Master Deputy Drew Pinciaro told BuzzFeed News that deputies received a call complaining about clowns being spotted in the woods behind the apartments on Aug. 20. The caller did not want to leave their name, he said.

But one woman did file a report with the sheriff’s office on Aug. 21, explaining that two days earlier her son told her he had “seen clowns in the woods whispering and making strange noises,” read an incident report sent to BuzzFeed News with the woman’s name redacted. The woman then went to investigate herself and “observed several clowns in the woods flashing green laser lights [who] then ran away into the woods.” The woman’s oldest son also told a sheriff’s deputy he heard “chains and banging” at the door of the home.

Donna and James Arnold, who live in the Fleetwood Manor complex with their two sons, aged 10 and 13, told BuzzFeed News she filed the report.

“[Our children] mentioned, ‘Mama, there’s clowns out there in the woods and they’re trying to get us to come out there,’” James Arnold said. “Some had chains, some had knives, and some were holding out money, saying, ‘Come here, we’ve got candy for you,’ but they wouldn’t go.”

Your thread title sounds like a bad Comedy Central series. Then I read the article. :covri:

I'd suddenly have the urge to head over to the woods with a bat... and a glove of course. Because, I was just going that way to play a friendly game of baseball, but happened to notice some weird clowns and took action. I was very fortunate.

Saw this yesterday.

I would shoot any clown in sight. I would probably burn the forest too.

There is one story of a clown just hanging out under a street light and waving at a lady. NOPE.

They need to call in the national guard or napalm the area. We cannot let the clowns take over. Nuke em all.

As you can probably tell, I have a phobia. Seriously, it's a good thing I don't live in this area.

Look at the three comments on the only linked source story on foxcarolina.com. Yeah, kind of more disturbing than the potential pedo.

a clown or a person dressed in clown clothing

Because that really needed clarification? Did they not want to upset real "clowns" who graduated from clown school?

I think they wanted to be clear the outfit was involved and it wasn't just Trump at the edge of the woods in a business suit.

This sounds more like viral marketing for some weird indie movie than real life.
