With the most crucial detail deciding between the two being the running game.

1. Running game wears defensive line and linebackers down. This helps Strief and Peat especially , because they won't be facing fresh passrushers.

2. Running game makes play-action passes to Cooks , Fleener or Thomas especially Snead impossible to defend.

3. Running game keeps our questionable defense fresh. They're more likely to get off the field quickly and perform above expectation when they're called upon scarcely.

4. Running game means less overall scoring opportunities for opposing teams , which means fewer points our offense has to score to secure games. The Lower the score , the higher the chance we have to win the ball game with our explosive offense.

5. Running game means Drew has a 2011 like year.

I remember the season before last when there were about 15 posts back to back to back about how SP refused to run the ball after getting blown out by Dallas. This year can't be like that.

Run the ball. If Ingram doesn't have 1400 yards , we aren't going anywhere. If Spiller doesn't have 800 Yards , we aren't going anywhere.

I agree. Either win big or get high draft pick. Unfortunately I think it's more like 7-9 through 9-7.

We had under 1500 rushing yards combined last year... Don't think we'll get 2200 from 2 players alone

Good point. But that should be the mentality. We are going to cram it down your throat and you're going to like it. :9:

For Payton to run the ball like how he wants it... You kind of have to have two things for it...

1. To be good at it
2. TO BE GOOD AT IT

If we are relying on the running game, then it's 4-12. But wait. We will over achieve over some teams that just don't care, and we wind up middle of the pack again, with middle round picks. Again.

We are stuck in a pattern. And we don't know how to maneuver the system.

We haven't been able to do that for years. And our line is weaker now. It's not going to happen.

It's simple , win week one and we are golden 10-6 ish , Lose week one and we are done , as we will start 1-4.

I saw progress in the Baltimore game. I think Peat will be good at LG, and if Armstead is healthy, the O-line will become respectable. If Lelito´s strengh is run blocking, then I guess the safer route would be to run the ball often.

Remember in Cleveland a couple years ago? Ingram was running the ball well and SP just kept going to empty backfield formations and WR screens on third down (well this one happens all the time).

1 dimensional teams are very easy to game plan. All you need is a running game that is effective enough to be a threat, and make the offense unpredictable.

Also, there's nothing more demoralizing to defenses than being unable to stop the run. It also beats up the defense, puts the brakes on the pass rush, and gives confidence to the offense.

An effective 4 minute drill is priceless. It will win you 2-3 close games a year.

If you have to get 2500 yards to achieve that, OK. If you can do it rushing for only 1500 yards, that's OK too.

I remember those playaction plays to deuce with regiie running the fake reverse, Henderson or meachum was running free on those.... the good ole days lol

I must have logged into the falcons site by accident.

No way Saints fans are acting like this...no way.

I hope Im wrong, but this is the least talented team since Payton has been in NOLA. I think we are looking at 6 or 7 wins tops. The o line is still just as up in the air as it was the first day at greenbriar. I just cant see this team winning more than 8 games and that will take some luck. Id love to be wrong but they've shown nothing in the preseason to make be believe otherwise.
