Early thread but football starts tonight!

This is a very important game for confidence. Neither team is good enough to dominate the other. This will come down to the wire.

my predictions:
*lots of scoring but saints D will make plays
*we will fall down early but rally
*sacks by Cam Kruger and Fairley
*Vonn Bell INT
*Jahri and peat both play well, OL surprises
*snead has a big game
*thomas catches first TD
*spiller has a breakout game
*LBs and secondary have a difficult outing
*new kicker goes 3/3

A strong 2nd half eases a lot of fears. Our D makes a big stop to close it out-

SAINTS 37
RAIDERS 31

go on record!

The Raiders are improved, but they're still the Raiders. Also the whole young west coast team making the long trip to play at noon thing.

The Saints defense is much better than I think most people realize.

I think the Saints hold-serve week 1 at home. Don't get too confident though.

Saints 27
Raiders 13

EDIT: I'd also like to add that I think, yes they have a great pass rush, but there are some holes in that Raiders secondary. Expect a signature 350+ yard 3 TD game from Brees.

I feel like this one will be low scoring in the 1st half and open up in the 3rd/4th quarters.

I'm thinking:

Saints 27
Raiders 17

Dude!! lol :hihi:

I assume they'll kick a field goal in the first half and we'll kick two.

Saints 27
Raiders 26

I've stuck with this prediction for the past two weeks, but I do have to admit that the sudden kicker change concerns me. Whatever the score, just win baby! Who dat!!!

I'm expecting our back end to give up a few big plays early. Could be 17-10 at half in favor of the raiders but think we only let them score 3 in the second half after adjustments while our offense finds a rhythm and scores 13-16 in the second half themselves.

Saints 26
Raiders 20

41-17 put up the first of many 40 burgers! D scores one of the touchdowns!

I'm expecting to win but I won't go point totals.

I don't expect Cooper to all world us

I expect Allen to confuse Carr on the back end with trap coverages

I've seen us gameplan for elite rushers like Freeney and Mathis and not give up much to either and I expect that to be the case with Mack. We know he's a gamewrecker so we'll be doing things to make sure he doesn't

I expect us to out coach them.

My impression is based more on what I did not see in pre-season that what I did see.

All preseason we played vanilla, almost no blitzing with off-man/zone coverage using lots of cushion. Breaux and PJ are in your face press coverage CBs and I expect to see them in that role with blitzing from every possible launch point. I am concerned with the TE and underneath stuff but early blitzing can negate that if the show the blitz then back out and keep Carr guessing.

On offense we were all told about this 3 TE set that would be unstoppable and never saw it used. Not sure what to expect from that package but if we can run out of it then one of the TEs should be able to run the seam route for huge gains.

I expect us to come out slinging the ball and using play action to free the back in the flat. Once Drew gets a read on which CB cannot cover a particular receiver we will see sets that play to that weakness. Each of our WR has a particular strength and I do not think may teams can cover Cooks, Snead, Thomas, and Fleaner with Spiller in the backfield.

PJ Williams is targeted early and often by Raiders offense. Whoever lines up across from PJ gets the 1st look. Crabtree could have a BIG game.

Latavus Murray rips off a long TD run.

Carr breaks contain and scrambles for a number a gut-wrenching 1st downs.

Saints offense starts slow, but gains momentum as the game progresses.

Saints running game is nearly a non-factor.

Willie Snead leads Saints in receiving and has 1st Saint TD of season.

Saints make a late comeback bid, but ultimately fall short.

Raiders 31
Saints 24

The Raiders pass rush looks very good, and physical defenses give our offense fits on good days. I see this will play out very similar to games from last year. Offense will go 3 and out early and often, defense will hang in there, but crack because offense can't stay on the field, or score. All the Raiders have to do to win is play safe ball control and not turn it over multiple times.

Raiders 24
Saints 16

I hope i'm wrong.
