Every good NFL Defense has the ability to pressure the QB.

Look back when we were rolling 09-11 even 13

The games we lost that ended our season were to teams with outstanding Defenses.

All of those teams were able to pressure the QB with their DL which in turn allows the their secondary to cover for 2 seconds instead of 4. When you pressure the QB that also forces bad decisions and turnovers

If we are going to try to rebuild this team we need to do this along the Defensive Line and find some edge rushers. I realize this isn't any news but , we are not going to get back to being even a winning team without that

Nearly every QB we have faced in the last 2 seasons has had career days against us and that's the reason. Today's QB is too good , any of them.

Rankings really isn't a pass rusher , right ?

If we had someone like Hardy for instance playing yesterday it's a different game. I'm not saying I agree with signing a nut case like Hardy but I am saying that I am tired of losing

On paper, the talent is there to get after the QB. Maybe not to a standout level, but certainly something more than what happened yesterday. The lack of a pass-rush was disappointing and the single biggest contribution to the loss.

There's multiple components to a pass rush. Your ends typicallyrush the passer from the outside, hopefully preventing him from scrambling right or left. Your tackles need to collapse the middle of the pocket, preventing the QB from stepping up in the pocket. You can also blitz LBs, CBs, and Safeties to cause chaos. But, if either of the first two don't get home, then there's a chance the QB can avoid the rest. From my untrained eye, our DEs looked fine, yesterday. Our DTs, not quite. I'm not sure why....

If on paper the talent is there. Then it all points back to what we been saying for alone time about Bill Johnson

Every offseason we look to improve the pass rush. We bring new players in, but we still can't fix it.

I think Kruger will improve. New scheme and team will have him start slow.

Jordan is often hot/cold. He'll probably play well this coming week.

Not making excuses, not saying everything is good, but I think it can get a little better at least.

The talent is not there. Rankins may help collapse the interior if he can get healthy, but we do not have any outstanding edge rushers.

It wouldn't be just him. It's something in the collective judgement/chemistry from Payton on down because the results don't change and the same people are calling the shots.

Mmmmwhat? Rankins is certainly a pass rusher. One of our quickest defensive lineman period, to be honest.

All he needs is experience. But we won't see him until we're ten weeks into the season. We could be anywhere from 3-7 to 7-3 by that point. Go ahead, take the bait.

Is it 10 weeks from now?

When can he come off IR? Week 6 and then can play in week 8 right?

I don't think anybody is arguing that the talent we have is outstanding. There is, however, a pretty wide area between 'outstanding' and 'no talent at all'.

He certainly can't hurt this team either. We are anemic on the defensive side of the ball.

It's time to dig deep, regroup and focus on the Giants.

My bad. You're right.

He got hurt 4 weeks ago right?

So barring a major setback, he should be 100% for our 8th game. More then ready actually.

If we can tread water and stay at .500 mid-season, I think we have a shot to be a much better team down the stretch. The worst part is the waiting. I hate the week after a loss.
