I kind of stopped paying attention after the poor guy's injury. Can anybody bring me up to speed? He's on the PUP list, right, but what are his realistic chances of playing this season?

They need to just IR him and free up that roster spot.

Dude Reminds me of a Thomas Davis. Couldn't catch a break early on , but as he got older he became Elite.

He tore his ACL, so zero.

I don't understand why he's on the PUP list and not on IR. ACL surgery has a minimum 6 month recovery time. They don't want to rush him back and risk him having a set back.

What seems wierd to me is we never saw a report about his surgery

PUP doesn't require a roster spot and they don't have to make a decision until Week 11. More than likely, he will be put on IR Week 6 when he's able to come off the list.

The benefit of placing a player on Reserve/PUP is that the player won't count against the 53-man roster limit. Teams have a six-week window (day after Week 6 to day after Week 11) during which the player can return to practice. If the player is not ready by then, the player either has to be released or moved to season-ending IR. Once a player returns to practice, teams have an extra three-week window before they have to activate the player to the 53-man roster (or release or IR him).

Probably because a partial ACL tear doesn't require surgery and they might as well wait to see how he's looking by week 6, as it doesn't take a roster spot until then anyway.

Thank you was going to post the same. At this point of the season there really is no difference between it or pup. After week 6 or so the team will then have to decide to ask for a two week roster exemption and then activate him or just give up and move him and to seasons ending IR. THERE IS NO HURRY AT THIS TIME.

This ^^

It was not reported if it was a complete rupture requiring surgery. Its just like any other sprain. Graded 1 through 3. 3 is complete tear requiring surgery. If its a grade 1 he might be back this year with rehab.
