Bayer + Monsanto (1 Viewer)

Yes, yes. The Soylent Project is going swimmingly.

Brilliant analysis of the issues. I look forward to more of this on the EE.

What type of analysis do you want? One massive corporation with roots in being disastrous and outright evil purchased another that is founded on the same principles in an effort to create an even more evil and disgusting monster.

Oh, I don't know, maybe some evidence that they are an evil corporation as opposed to a snarky assumption that they are. You know, an actual discussion of the issues with evidence and/or logic to back up the positions taken. But that has become too much to ask for on the EE or in this country.

Bayer (formerly known as IG Farben) was the only German company in the Third Reich that ran its own concentration camp, and 30,000 slave workers died there. Zyklon B gas, which killed millions of Jews and other people was produced by IG Farben's subsidiary company Degesch.

Monsanto may be a controversial topic with some people actually believing that they do no harm (ha!) but at the very least they're irreparably destroying the soil with their products.

I think it's common knowledge that Monsanto enslaved the same giants who built the pyramids and forced them to ravage all the crops in Africa, starving the poor children.

Also, 9 out of 10 doctors agree that Bayer has been brainwashing police officers into killing innocent criminals.

And science has proven that Roger Goodell is the CEO of both companies.

If you don't know all of this by now, than shame on you.

I am so torn.

I totally agree with widge's position that discussion with evidence is important and lacking on the EE,

BUT

I totally agree with notsaintkyle's assumption that everyone knew these two mega-corporations are everything that's wrong with capitalism.

so, do I thumb up both of them or neither?

there needs to be a pole.

A good start to a detailed discussion would be someone putting forth the honest claim that they think Bayer's or Monsanto's reputations are largely undeserved. Haven't seen that yet.

How could our government allow this to happen?

I'm glad someone is doing the brave thing and sticking up for a multinational corporate monopoly with questionable ethical, moral, environmental, and economical practices. Way to go.

Is Monsanto actually spraying illegal chemicals onto our soil or are they selling government approved chemicals to farmers so they can grow enough food to deed our country?

I ask because we as Americans can purchase fruits and veggies from chemical free organic farms. But most do not. Instead we blame the big corporations. If we all purchased organic, Monsanto would go away. If our all mighty government really cared about us, they would stop Monsanto from poisoning us. But here we are, crying about Monsanto.
