I was watching a few of the sports reports today, and I see where the Giants' players called a "team only" meeting to try and right a sinking ship in an effort to salvage their season...

Then you have the Falcons (thanks to us) who are imploding in public, with Vick's "after game" gestures, the apologies, the calling out of players, the fan mutiny, etc..

And finally, you have folks in Carolina now asking if it's time for a QB change?

We, as Saints fans, know all too well that this is not the way you want to enter December and the final stretch before the post season...

The reason I find these three stories so intriguing is not only because all three teams are either division or conference rivals, but also because they are all talented teams that should be in serious contention for a playoff berth... Instead, they're holding on for dear life.

On the other hand, here we are, as Sainst fans with five weeks to go, and not only are we still enjoying a magical season that began in September, but we also know that our Saints have a legitimate shot at making some real noise in the coming weeks and next couple of months.

More importantly, if this teams' first year performance is any indication, our future looks even brighter...

How great it is to be on the other side of the fence, for a change, where the NFL's promising franchises live!!

Merry Christmas

:1party: Woo-hoo! It's about time. I can't remember feeling like this in the month of December in years. I think we are in for a great Christmas!! :1party:

Do you have a link to these stories you mention?

I watched Sportscenter this morning and they mentioned the team-only meeting with the Giants.

I saw Vick's press, and he mentioned his guys need to catch the ball... or he need to throw it sooner... before they make their breaks... anticipate the throws... but he did say that his guys need to catch the ball.

You can go to the Panthers forum and see how much love Jake is getting now... they are calling for his head over there.

Didn't they do that a few years ago, and end up in the superbowl?

Man, I hate being there. You know that your team is in trouble, but you keep clinging to hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm glad that it is happening to our competition in the NFC, but I don't like seeing any fans suffer through "we have a talented team on paper; we just can't put it all together" BS.

The thing is, for me anyway, it's easy to get excited as an opposing fan when you see some struggles in other organizations, because you think that the players will probably just pack it in, not listen to the coaches, and get ready to go skiing in January. I used to think like this until very recently. These things tend to work themselves out from week to week.
Now, if this were going down with let's say 2 weeks left in the season, and the Panthers, Giants, and Falcons had the likes of Baltimore, New England, and San Diego left on their schedules, and were hanging their heads, then I would probably feel more comfortable with their struggles because it would be more likely that their play-off hopes would be all but destroyed.

Right now, there is too much football left. Something tells me that the Giants and Panthers are going to fight to the end, and Atlanta is not completely dead yet. Although, that birdcage is getting hot in ATL right about now.

It was earlier in the season, not this late... and if you recall, it's the second time this year they've had to try to "right the ship."

Well personally, I hope it sinks. :hihi:
There is a part of me that feels that in this point of the season, you pretty much are what you are. That feeling is then contested by the reality that the Saints went 4-0 in December 2004 and just missed the playoffs at 8-8. Anything can happen, I guess, especially with 5 games left. Both Carolina and NY still have winning records.

I still want that bye. I want the Giants to rise up and smite the Cowboys in the death-rattle game of their season.....

....and then collapse.

I agree with you 100%, LPaulT. I simply prefer, as a fan, to be sitting where we are right now, as opposed to where these 3 other teams fans are right now.
