The Giants are loaded with offensive weapons.
Victor Cruz and Sterling Shepard are more than capable, but in a league defined by its stars, New York wide receiver (and LSU and Newman product) Odell Beckham Jr. might shine brighter than all of the other skill players.
The Saints already know this. Beckham lit up the Saints last year by pulling in eight passes for 130 yards and three touchdowns, and he walked out of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome as one of the few receivers who got the better of Delvin Breaux during his rookie year.
Breaux won’t have the opportunity to redeem himself; he suffered a broken fibula in last week's season-opening loss to Oakland. It likely will become a team effort to contain Beckham, and newly signed cornerback Sterling Moore likely will be part of the equation.
The former Buccaneer got a shot at Beckham last season and held his own. He was directly in coverage of the Giants receiver six times, allowing three receptions for 39 yards. He broke up two passes to Beckham, intercepted another and forced a fumble.
“I was in that division for three years, being in Dallas,” Moore said. “I kind of knew their offensive tendencies, their schemes and things like that. Obviously it was a good game for myself.”
