Tell them about Aaron Rodgers:

-hasn't hit 300 yards passing in a game since week 10 in the 2015 season

-has thrown from fewer than 200 yards in his last 4 out of 6 games
-has completed less than 60% of passes in 6 out of his last 7 games

I'm a little surprised at those stats......but I don't know how using the stats of Player X is an indicator that Player Y isn't declining?

And no, I don't believe Brees has declined.

Unless it's just supposed to be one of those "oh yeah? well so-and-so is MORE DECLINING-ER" or something..

Rodgers regression is interesting.

And it's not like his OL isn't protecting him or he lacks playmakers.

Rodgers also has 14 games in a row below 100 QB Rating. The next closest streak has 4 games.

That's kind of surprising.

A friend of mine who is a big Packers fan called my attention to it. He said people are starting to wonder if he's taken too many hits over the years. He's led the league in sacks taken twice with 50 and 51 and had another with 46.

By comparison Drew has typically had sack numbers taken in the 20s, and that's despite 100+ more pass attempts than Rodgers has most years.

Meanwhile, over his last 6 games, Brees has 14 TD to 0 INT with 70% completion (69.9 I rounded up) and has 300+ yards in five of those six

There was a pass that Brees threw against Pittsburgh in preseason..........and now I can't even remember who it went to.......but it was a pass that made me do a double-take as to how "spot-on" and laser-like it was.

It's all Olivia Munn's fault.

Well, Rodgers since that time frame has thrown two hail mary TDs to win one and take the other to OT. Also, last year Rodgers was playing without his top receiver who masked his actual weak oline. He went to Minnesota where he's actually struggled the last three times there since Zimmer took over. He did okay at Jacksonville week 1. And given GB's upcoming schedule, unless you want them to lose to the CLOWNS there really isn't a losable game coming up between now and potentially Washington(week 11) and he has four straight home games coming up.

Brees isn't in decline but this arguing point was very weak. Rodgers since his last sb has come closer to a sb than Brees since his. He was robbed of his second Lombardi due to McCarthy's playcalling. Also, in 2013 the packers were 5-2 before Rodgers got hurt and GB lost/tied four games that with Rodgers they win. Wanna know what record that is? 12-4, that's the 3rd seed and them hosting US in the wild card round. And they would have easily gotten to Seattle that year. Let's face it no team has gotten out of a west coast trip in divisional round and Rodgers three of his last four playoffs has been bitten by that luck just like Brees was. Rodgers doesn't have to travel out west he will be hard to keep from the sb.

The better argument would have been comparing Wilson to Brees as Wilson is struggling now.

I was thinking about this last night while watching the game - the cumulative effect of those hits is adding up. He has 90 less starts than Drew but has probably taken more hard hits in his career. This does not add up to him playing effectively into his late 30s.

I think he'll come out of his recent slump and look like the old Rodgers again soon, but for how long, I do not know. As he starts to slow down, he is going to have to change how he plays or he will take one of those Steve Young hits that ends his career.

BTW, this leads to an interesting line of argument I think. If Rodgers style of play did in fact allow him to play QB better than anyone ever has at his peak (QB rating says so, but I don't think its indisputable), but also led to a shortened career marked by less reliability than a Drew, Peyton, or Brady provides, does he really get to claim GOAT status?
