He clearly doesn't have the elite WR speed or talent, but he is fast and clearly very tall and can make a catch. I think he would make a good TE. Now, I have ZERO knowledge on the intricacies of the positions in football and I just love watching the game on a semi deep level. I am not someone you would ask how a Tampa 2 works or what a route tree is.

Would he be a better TE than Fleener?

I'll be gentle by saying no...Coleman's hands are just as questionable as Fleener and what's worse is that it seems Coleman either doesn't know or want to use that big body of his to be more effective.

He is just as inconsistent so what good would that do? I say we dont use a TE until we can get one that catches a football. Fleener should be at the jug machine right now until 6 am every day. He and Coleman both.

That isn't going to help them. You or I can go stand in front of a Jugs machine and catch like a boss, gameday is a whole different thing.

He's too thin. He needs more weight on him to be able to hold the POA in the running game and would simply get run over by a DE in the passing game.

It's doesn't really matter what you call him. He's not physical and can't make tough catches. The only difference in todays game, between a TE and a WR is that a TE occasionally blocks.
Jimmy Graham and Colston were pretty much used the same. I don't see Coleman running seam routes, absorbing contact and making the tough catches.

What are the chances that Sean Payton, who has crafted an offense that ranks highly year after year, would somehow not be smart enough to think "hey, could Brandon Coleman be a TE?" if, in fact, Brandon Coleman was TE material ? How do we know they haven't experimented with that in practice.......only to have it be a complete disaster?

It's not that Fleener has "stone hands", rather he has incredibly weak hands.
Simple throws are there, his hands are there, it's just the velocity of the ball
breaks open his hands/fingers.

Watch how almost every catch he makes he's facing back to the line and uses
his body/chest to secure the catch, over compensating for his hands.

When he has to leave his body to "hand catch" one, he can't secure it.
