Blitzing requires good CB's as it will leave them on an island and after Breaux's injury its likely we blitzed less the second game than the 1st.

Probably was, Carr has struggles against the blitz.

At times I've seen JL come on a blitz, but never really got through. On occasion I would see a few bluff blitzes from the CB & LB.

The pressure from the front 4 has been below average in my opinion. I think after week 1 Payton made a statement about it.

So far i've seen at least 2 hurries from Kruegar, not sure about Cam Jordan, and almost none from the interior.

I wonder if we plan on blitzing Matt Ryan? If we can get a few sacks, that'll have the dome rocking, especially on 3rd down.

Yeah, it was less against the Raiders. I don't have the snap counts, but the game plan was about maintaining containment - a tip of the hat to Carr's mobility.

These are professional football players, these CB played in blitz heavy defenes in highschoo, and college this is nothing new to them we need to stop acting like these guys have never played the game before, these kids have been playing football there entire lifes why do you think they come into the league (rookies) and understand the playbook by opening day...its terminology thats different not the scheme.

We have Robertson, Vacarro, Bell, Byrd, Ellerbe (when healthy) that DA uses to blitz and the CB play over the top as the scheme forces the QB to make quick decisions and allows the DB's to drive on the ball as the WR is always in front of them.

I'd retort but you appear set in your logic that if they did it in HS they should be able to do it in the NFL. If you think its that simple well...more power to ya big bro!

while that is true, generally speaking, these players were the best or one of the best growing up. They were generally superstars in high school. Things get a little tougher in college. And in the pros, everybody runs a 4.5 at least. If you blitz and leave these young undrafted free agents, they were not drafted for a reason what ever it is, on an island you are just asking for trouble. While I think they have the talent to be good in the league, they are not superstars by any means, it will take time for them to understand the pro game. Remember a lot of the youngsters have played against the spread offense in school. Coach Allen said he didn't want this defense to get beat deep. He has the right idea. Now while this puts the defense on the field for a long time, and the offense has to help out by either long drives or at least take some time off the clock to give them some rest, you won't give up a lot of easy touchdowns. And not many coaches/qbs will have the patience to go on many long drives. The receivers gets antsy wanting to make the highlight reel. And honestly, this defense don't have enough studs at the right positions to blitz a lot. I would like to know how many big pass plays this defense has given up so far compared to the same time in previous years. It has to be less for sure.
