Do we give KV a $60 million, 5-year contract? imvho- Hell No!

Would the Pats do it? No way. They let him walk which is what we should do.

Admitted, KV is playing well this year. That's no coincidence since it's a contract year. Keeping him would be the type of contract that would keep us in cap hell.

But KV is well liked by many on the Board. How many think we should re-sign him?

I think they should resign Vacarro. He's a good young player. Byrd is gone after this season and Roman Harper is a role player

He's under contract until 2018.

No reason to resign him early unless it's for a good discount.

Kenny was missed yesterday. His presence can not be understated.

As I wrote on another thread, I think Allen should have used Mike Harris on zone coverage to stop the running backs to kill us yesterday. He has made his career reading and reacting on similar situations as yesterday.

Now, on signing Kenny. I hope we do, but just over market value. He is a great player, but he is not a top 5 safety. And even if he was, I think cap wise, safety is a luxury position (as running back, tight end, guard).

Let's see at the moment what we can do, but certainly I would not give him Byrd's kind of money. I would not have given Byrd that kind of money from the beginning.

are we just never gonna extend our own players ever again because of Galette being a sociopath and Jordan being disappointing?

Not sure, how big a contract they should throw at him. But, we have to find a way to keep him here. He's developing into one of the best SS in the game. He's the glue to this D moving forward, and he's still young.

I've tried to reduce my sarcasm but.... here goes... lol

Yea, cuz we were fine without him last night... /sarcasm. 😃

Look, this is the landscape of the NFL. The cap goes up but so does the price of the players. Good players make bank. I think fans are in the mindset that we're going to have all this money after we clear the problems of the last few years but we'all just have to give it to someone else.

It's not a matter of not extending players. It is a matter of not paying JJ Watt money for someone who's not JJ Watt.

Vaccaro is a good player, but he's no Ronnie Lott. Galette wasn't special, Jordan isn't special. A team should not break the bank for such players. Now, I know the decision to pay some athletes does take into consideration the marketing side of it, but strictly speaking football, you should not pay premium prices for regular performances.

well no we don't need to make him the highest paid safety or anything. but he's a good player.

people want to talk about New England and how they always let players go, but the difference is that a lot of times they win with bad players because Belichick is the GOAT.

Let him walk, that's the problem we settle for good players when we should be going after great players.

This.

You simply can't take the approach of never extending players because of a couple bad deals in the past. Yes, they most certainly leave a bad taste, especially when you're losing, but if you're going to get better as a team, you have to draft good talent and then pay what's necessary to keep it.

Folks have their own opinions about every player on the team and their perceived value but I think most would agree that, when healthy, Vaccaro is one of our better players in the secondary. And he's young too, which means we need to keep him and continue to surround him with others like him.
