A lot of players being called why not cooks? Has a game where he comes up big and then disappears for several games( has trouble winning against top corners). He just isn't reliable there is a reason Brees prefers Snead imo

Cooks is solid, but he isn't going to be the next Antonio Brown that many of us hoped he would. Cooks will be a very good 1b receiver. Who would be our 1a receiver? None other than your boy and mine, Michael Thomas. MT has "IT" and he is going to make Drew and our next qb sleep easy.

Cooks wont disappoint when called upon, but he should in no ways be called upon more than MT, otherwise that is a misuse of resources.

If not for cooks drawing the double teams then none of our other players would be able to do what they do. Cooks games you see him blow up in is the games where they try to man up on him and he burns the db's

Stats aren't everything for your top wide out all the time. He opened up the field for the other guys. MT and Coleman and huge games.

He needs another threat on the other side for him to really flourish. Maybe another Devery or a big play maker type.

True.

Thinking back, I recall many if not most of Cooks' deeper catches were in double coverage. His concentration is amazing.

I'll bet the coach tells his DBs "Don't let Cooks get behind you". That's a very tall order, and they need help to prevent it.

He's not going to juke you like Tommylee, or muscle you like Willie, but he gets it done.

He still had seven catches against the Giants. He also had eight targets against Atlanta, but the Falcons played him really tight, and he missed on that one high pass Brees went deep to him on. Not every game is going to be your best.

Brown is not "on" in every game either. He had four catches for under forty yards on eleven targets against the Bengals. It happens to the best of them.

What I mean is this duo of Cooks and MT has the potential to be better than DT and Sanders in Denver. You have the tall sure handed guy, and the quick shorter guy. Both serve their purpose, and neither will be chopped liver, but MT will be DT while Cooks is Sanders.

And just for clarity's sake, Sanders is leading that position group in targets, receptions, and touchdowns.

And that is fine, they are one of the more lethal duos in the NFL, and stats don't tell the entire story (as mentioned by another poster).

We are working in MT fine, but as the season progresses, I think he will start turning into that DT receiver, and Cooks will be Sanders.

I keyed on Cooks the majority of the game and Desmond Trufant was shadowing him everywhere the entire game. I even saw him in the slot while Cooks was there. Dude is easily the most underrated corner in the league. We've got another challenge with Jason Verrett next week.
