Kinda hilarious that our STs are a disaster and we cut a kicker that was voted the player of the month and is perfect on the season.....

Yet more evidence that personnel decisions should be stripped from our coaches...

I just think this is something you couldn't predict. Both kickers were doing well last year in camp. It came down to the last pre season game and he missed a kick. It was close and at the time it looked like a toss up. Hindsight is always 20/20.

How do I just KNOW that you're waiting for Lutz to miss a gimme chip shot field goal so you can throw this on the metaphorical pyre?

Probably eats at you that it's been going so well and Lutz looks just as good as any kicker we've had. So far.

Not really sure how Hopkins being on the team would solve our "disaster" ST. Would Hopkins have prevented Harris from bumping into Tommylee Lewis? Would Hopkins have made a 61 yarder as time expired? Lutz is doing just fine. LEAVE IT ALONE.

I wanted to keep Hopkins but that ship has sailed. I think we made the right move with Lutz this year. Keep him through his growing pains and he's going to be a good one.

Wonder if Hopkins can kick so hard that the ball would go through people...because that's what he would've needed to do to not have his kick blocked against the Giants like Lutz's kick was.

My memory is that most thought Hopkins would be our kicker, but that the coaching staff may have changed its mind because of the last preseason game.

The coaches get paid lots of money to make these decisions. If after weeks of camp and four preseason games they pick the wrong kicker, somebody messed up.

His missed kick against the raiders was the difference between us winning and losing, not a chip shot but from 50 it's very make able by most kickers.

And all the reports I read had Hopkins winning the battle and looking better in camp. It was kind of a shock that he was cut. I remember drafting him on my ff team that year based on those reports before preseason ended.

You did not just say a 60 yard FG is makeable by most kickers.
