I'm not trying to be negative after the Saints got their first win but I'm concerned about Brandin Cooks...He explodes against the Raiders whose defense in the secondary has proven to be questionable at best. But then he has sort of disappeared in the last 3 games. Today he's matched up against a top corner and he barely scratches the surface against him. Verrett is a good corner but TY Hilton lit him up last week. If Cooks wants to be elite he has to do a better job of being more consistent and winning against the top corners in the league.

brandin cooks is very average against good defenses. all that antonio brown talk was nonsense from the start. just have to take what we can get out of him. he feasts on bad secondaries. disappears against average to good ones. he doesn't play near as fast as he can run.

He needs a good #1 to go with him

Correct, most saints fans want to believe he is a number 1 receiver when clearly he is not

#13 Mr. Thomas has a chance to be special. Like a #1 receiver type special.

This Saint defense usually shuts down the opposing team's best receiver. It's not because their receiver is bad or our defense is great. It's the strategy/scheme.

It's time for Michael Thomas to step up and be the receiver we thought he'd be in training camp.

You kidding me? He has. Mike Thomas is going to be in the running for offensive rookie Of the year.

but a number 1 receiver overcomes that, correct?
Only Jerry Rice. Every other receiver in history had games in which they were shut down. It happens. Except to Rice somehow. Seriously. Go check his game logs. He literally never had an off day until his swan song with Oakland.

Cooks is a NFL WR covered by NFL CB's just because one player doesn't contribute in one game as much as the other WR's on the team doesn't mean he's not good or having trouble you need more WR's to make a spread and Snead and Thomas are filling those voids last year it was just Snead and Cooks but now its 3 which truly makes for a dynamic offense to cover.
