Chargers had a 13 point lead and possession with 6:50 left (1 Viewer)

and still lost. Fumbled on 2 straight offensive plays.

I am still in amazement.

I was texting my brother back and forth and during that sequence, I'd look up and see the saints recovering a fumble. I thought it must have been because I was passively watching, so on the final chargers possesion, I left the room.

You're welcome, everybody! ;)

Im not. The Chargers choke a lot. One year they were #1 offense and defense and still missed the llayoffs. They miss kicks, fumble, blow 4th quarter leads and basically do all the things we do to lose close games. If we were due to win any game it was that one.

oh yeah forgot about that season

a team with the best offense and defense in the league going 8-8...geez

lets just say their special teams and kicking game was not so special

Here's a couple of "tweets":

Drew Brees with his wife, four kids, family and friends spending a little extra time on the field in San Diego. He said he knows this will probably be the last time he ever plays here and wants to soak it all in. Joked that his kids have seen the 2004 Chargers highlight tape a bunch of times and wanted to reenact some of the plays.

Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said he's furious after his team gave up another fourth-quarter lead. McCoy says that he believes the players still have confidence in him as the head coach. "I know one way, to come in tomorrow, work my *** off and get this team ready to go to Oakland," McCoy said, when asked about his job security. "I don't worry about any of that. I am coaching this football team the way I know how to do it, and we're going to grind."

fairly certain it was above 99% after the Saints punted with < 7:00 left

That's actually amazing

Bahaha, I can so relate to this. I went into the kitchen to finish up some cooking and cleaning and to glance at the TV occasionally. After the second fumble and I still hadn't left the kitchen, I realized I had to remain there in order for the Saints to seal the deal 2,000 miles away.
Eventually, I ran out of chores to do so I washed the kitchen cabinets for the final Chargers possession.

Clean kitchen and the Saints win. Win-win :9:

My method for the final sequence used some reverse psychology -- please note, I was slightly hammered.

I texted my brother "I don't want to lose another game on a last second field goal!" I got up and went outside with my son to toss the ball with the dog. My wife asked how it went and I told her, very matter of fact, we came back to take the lead but that we lost on a last second field goal.

After a few minutes later, I went in and my wife asked "did you actually watch the end of the game?" She saw someone posted that the Saints won on Facebook.

I ran down to the den and watched the final Chargers possession on the DVR, happy that I'd done my part, spreading magic through my sacrifice to the football gods and my crippling pessimism.

Whoo hoo!

For us, the 4th quarter was basically the reverse of the Oakland game. Bad and good bounces of the ball are going to even out over the course of the season. Good teams find away to rise above the bounces. We're not there yet, although I'll certainly take yesterday's win.

That pretty much says it. If Fleener steps up in 4th qtr in Week 1, and if Coleman or Crawley step up and make a play in NY, we're 3-1. That's the margin.
