Todd Marinovich Charged with Public Nudity In Bizarre Drug Case | TMZ.com

Throwing people in prison because they are addicted to drugs is insane.

Depends on the person. Some people need some time in the pen just for putting spandex on their bodies....

Nudity is a sign of overdose. Heart starts racing, body starts sweating, clothes start coming off to ride it out. When you're homeless it's harder to get away with.

People become so addicted to drugs that they would rather being homeless than spending money on survival. It's like they are trying to commit suicide every time they use. They overdose on purpose to get an extreme rush. They don't care if they die, eat, family.

The crimes they commit aren't bad enough to hold them past their court date. They plea guilty and are released with time served. They leave jail having gained their weight back, new connections, and new plans. They use their stay to get sympathy from others after their release. They can go to a church and get a $1,000 because they look changed.

I knew a Guy that would make 2 grand a day holding a sign, and asking people at gas stations for money. He would rather sleep on the ground than help himself.

It's a shame that our society looks at people who need help with aversion instead of sympathy.

You knew a guy who was a liar. I've volunteered at both the needle exchange and at the Harry Thompson Center and have asked many people who fly a sign for a living what the most they've ever made is and the most was $400. And that wasn't a daily income. That was the most they ever pulled in in one day. A typical day for someone flying a sign for 8 hours in New Orleans seems to be around $40-$50.

Old news ... I read about this a couple months ago.

He may Have been lying.

But you're basing figures off NO. He was in Houston. Which has 12x the population as NO

That's not counting money made at gas stations.

I've seen him and his girlfriend come back after 2 hours making a round of gas stations around lafayette with more than $400

If he makes $2k per day holding a sign outside then brb...

Yeh, I've gotta agree with the naysayers on this one. In the extreme case: Only working weekdays but no vacation - that would be a tax-free salary of $520K. If you figure the take-home of a taxable salary, you're at least within striking-distance of a 7-figure salary.

If there was that much free money out there, the NFL would have a panhandling division.

I'm all for helping people but people also need to help themselves. I have a brother who is a drug addict and until he really decides to change nothing will help him.
