So Hill is playing today?

I really hope so, Drew has always trusted him but he's been behind Jimmy and Ben.

He's got great speed for a TE and is fantastic on ST.

Here's hoping for a big day from Josh!!!

His return is no small thing as I believe it will give Payton some additonal scheme options. One thing he can do is block pretty well.

I thought he played well. Dropped one pass early, you can attribute that to rustiness. I didn't see the TD but the leaping grab earlier near the sideline and run after that was a thing of beauty. I have to think he's helped shore up the pass blocking as well, Brees stayed pretty clean most of the game.

Good pass and nice catch on the TD. I couldn't believe they initially called that incomplete.

The TD reception was also a thing of beauty. Hand grab and control after slamming to the ground with the DB all over him. So nice!

That touchdown pass is the reason .I wish the NFL would adopt the college rule of every play is review able

I don't recall which play specifically but it might have been on that Michael Thomas catch that Tony Hills negated with his penalty, my brother said "did you guys just see Josh Hill just lay that defender out? He just blew him up and you could hear the thud of the pads". When they showed the replay, they didn't include that part so I never got to see it.

The ref that watched the play to the end was calling it a TD, but the other refs came over and talked him out of it.

There was another play that caught my eye as well.

He picked up a blitz coming from the right and just absolutely stoned the guy. It allowed Brees to complete a pass for a first down...........:9:

I really think it has to do with ongoing confusion about the catch rule. The refs know you have to maintain possession in going to the ground and I think that's why they were confused. But the rule is about the ground causing the dispossession, not another player after the player is down and in clear control of the ball.

I've always said that if you want to simplify the catch rule, get rid of the whole "football move" part of it.

Make two feet with the ball in your hands = catch. And do away with the "catch the ball through the ground" thing, unless you didn't get the two feet down.

I was watching old games from the 80s and 90s and it seems like this was the standard and confusion was pretty much nil.

It's the old "2 guys at a bar" adage. If it looks like a catch to the random fan, it's a catch. Why must I catch the ball "through the ground" if I already got two feet down?

At one point he blocked Charles Johnson 1 on 1. Outstanding blocker at the TE position.

That touchdown was the first time I've been impressed with Josh Hill's contribution in the passing game. To elevate and high point that throw was impressive, and then somehow managing to hold on while getting two feet down. That's a big time play in a big situation.

Yep. That was really my first time seeing that guy "make a play." Yeah he's caught TDs here and there, but that was the first time I saw him make a play when contested and do something "special."

I am still waiting on that moment from Brandon Coleman.
