It seemed to be that way . We held the Panthers to 10 points in the first half I think the d played good then things kinda went south for us is that play calling or lack of experience?

The defense looked like a different team the 2nd half. Maybe Carolina made some major adjustments also, which it looks like they did. It did seem like we were getting more pressure in the 1st half.

True bradman, I forgot about Moore going down. That changes a lot of things on defense. I believe we went to more zone defense cause we didn't have the horses to man up on the outside. Dixon.....smh

You have to look at what Carolina was doing and not just the scores per half.

They moved the ball very well in that 2nd quarter. They probably score 17 in the 1st half if not for that INT. So it really wasn't that much different when you look at it.

Carolina thrives on the deep ball. With our injuries, that was a really bad matchup for us.

We played zone most of the game. Carolina took advantage as soon as they figured it out. They also figured out using double moves and launching deep throws would probably get a PI flag called. We confused their O-line with a couple stunts but we only used 3 or 4 so once they saw them in the 1st half they didn't work as well.

Carolina's passing game is awesome when SCam has time. Their OL gives him just enough time to throw, their WR's are either huge or fast, and their TE is probably the best in the NFL. It's very hard to stop that passing attack for 4 quarters, even with a good pass rush and good corners.

It didn't help that SCam was on the money all day except for 3-4 passes. We will need a little better pass rush to beat him next time.

The only issue I had with the gameplan were all the blitzes with the big lead. Against a more accurate QB, I get it. And it's part of what got you the big lead, so again, I get it.

But Cam has such a strong arm, is so hard to sack, and is so inaccurate at intermediate throws, I would have been fine letting them try to dink it down the field 6 yards at a time. 4 man mush rush with good contain would have been okay with me. It may have protected our 5th, 6th, & 7th (lol) string CB's a bit more as well, although they did a fine job, all things considered.

Giving up PIs in the endzone killed us. That seemed like part of Carolina's game plan. I understand that sometimes you have to interfere to prevent the touchdown. It seemed like they would throw deep and hope for the completion or the PI. Our CBs should learn from it and move on.

There seems to be a pattern from the past 2 seasons. The team isn't very good in the second half. In the past two seasons there were a lot of games where they were slightly ahead, tied or slightly behind (not many blow-outs) in the first half of games, but in the 2nd half the wheels would come off. We almost saw another loss due to that again yesterday.

Does anyone have a video of Payton yelling at Dennis Allen this week?

The momentum of the game shifted when Lewis killed a drive with a drop pass. It forced us to punt and they had great field position and scored right away. The Panthers were back in the game after that

I think Deuce nailed it on the radio broadcast...the Panthers just kept running out patterns and it's like our corners just never figured it out. It was out pattern after out pattern. Then long ball and PI.

The minute our CBS drop into zone they light us up underneath 15 yards. We went to zone after 21 pts. We did the same in SD and Payton made Allen go back to being aggressive.
