METAIRIE, La. -- The NFL’s No. 1 passing offense doesn’t have a single wide receiver over the age of 24.

The New Orleans Saints keep getting younger -- and better -- at that spot, thanks to the addition of second-round draft pick Michael Thomas, who has a touchdown in each of the past three games.

But the Saints’ receivers certainly don’t act their age. All of them have taken on major roles early in their careers, with Brees and coaches lauding them for their maturity and work ethic.

Brees also loves the fact that the Saints got to start molding them from a young age.

“We’re taking these guys right out of college and this is their first team so, ‘This is how we’re doing it, and this is how it needs to be done, and this is what I’m expecting. And I can also tell you that this is when the ball’s gonna be there and that’s when you need to be there.'” Brees said. “A lot of times we have the ability to show them 11 years’ worth of film to show why something should be done a certain way or how it’s evolved. Like, ‘Here’s the evolution, here’s where it started, and this is where it is now.’

Really good article. Enjoy!

I love this WR corps - and I think Tommylee is getting starting to feel comfortable (and Brees getting comfortable with him), which just adds another element.

With these guys and Fleener starting to turn-on, this is a formidable passing attack. I think we'll get a real test this weekend at Kansas City, but I feel like Drew is just getting started with these guys and if the line can continue to do a competent job, we're going to lead the league in offense.

I love our WR corps also, but say someone like Carlos Henderson out of La. Tech falls to us in the 2nd, do you snag him or go to another position of need?

I like them. Pff has them near the bottom in efficiency but they are young

We're absolutely stacked at WR. I hope they give the Saints a "Drew Brees discount" when their rookie contracts are up. I would hate to lose any of them.

Have you seen our defense?!?

Seriously though, this team typically has 6 leading recievers over the course of the year. The top 3 WR's, the 3rd down back, the top TE, and then 1 wild card. It could be a 2nd TE, it could be a 4th WR, or it could be the "Main" RB. With Ingram's ability to catch the ball and Coach's views on how the 2TE set makes the offense more unpredictable, I'd say that he will be leaning towards those pieces being on the field more often than the 4th WR.

At this point, all but one of the "Imperative" pieces are set. Now you have to "get deep."

IMHO, the 2nd round pick this year will play way to important a role to be used on another WR. The top three are already really, really good. I kinda chuckle when people compare them to Colston/Moore/Henderson. Cooks is way, way more complete a WR than Henderson, and that's no knock on Dev. Snead is way, way more physically gifted than Moore, again, no knock on Moore. And Thomas has the ability to be as good as Colston, but let's be serious, Colston was a flat out stud who never got his due.

Packers, Saints, Raiders, Jags, Steelers, all have fantastic WR corps. All that said, the Saints' 3 have the ability (and the QB) to be the very best in the NFL for quite a nice run.

Chuck - When I read your summary, I get chills thinking about how good this offense can be. If we get 2 more quality years out of Brees, this offense will rock. And when we progress to another QB after Brees, what a gift to give a new QB.

If our young WRs progress extensively, then we could get 4 more quality years out of Drew?!?!

Yeah, it's a position of strength which is crazy because in 2014 we were hoping for production out of guys like Joe Morgan and Nick Toon, plus dealing with the ghosts of Colston and Meachem.

If I spent any draft picks on offense it would be on the offensive line, even though they have been playing well.

This draft has to go DE. If we don't draft at least 1 DE in the first two rounds I'm going to be shocked. I know people don't like to move up in the draft but we need a blue chip DE not just the best available when we pick. Cam is the man, he just needs some help.

If we had a DB corps on par with the WR corps we wouldn't be in bad shape. Easily that could have been Breaux, Lewis, Williams this year. Then it got knocked to Breaux, Williams, now its Just Breaux when he returns and Crawley who's been doing a solid job but 3months ago wouldn't have been penciled in.

Injuries burned us big time this year.

Better option is Courtland Sutton.

But it depends on how the draft shakes out. Along with the rest of our year. And, of course, free agency.

Will we still be in dire straights once all our guys are back that can come back? And even then, people assume this team as constructed is exactly as will be during the draft. Not even close.

We have a lil' cap space by default and I'm sure Mickey Loomis will find even more.

Will our defensive needs be so pressing if we sign Dontari Poe or Kawaan Short? What about Dont'a Hightower? Or bring in a guy like Stephone Gilmore?

It wouldn't be a bad idea to draft a stud TE after a few defensive picks.

We all know what Drew can do when he has a big body in the middle of the field.

And we haven't drafted a TE since Hill 4 years ago.

Watching a young guy like Jordan Reed or Hunter Henry, man I'd love that to compliment the receivers.
