How can the ref's call that a fumble (Texans vs Broncos MNG). The arm went forward as did the ball which even spiralled... I have never seen a fumble that spiralled. Bad call. Incomplete pass in my books

Agreed. Terrible call.

Terry Bradshaw was right when he said you can't make the game about perfection and that sometimes seeing a play in slow motion vs real time can be deceptive because it might not look like a textbook perfect play but that doesn't mean it was necessarily wrong.

And Dean Blandino - a man who has never officiated an NFL game on the field in real time - the head of NFL officiating said there "wasn't enough [evidence]" to overturn the call that shouldn't have been called in the first place. :jpshakehead:

NFL stupidity is ruining the game.

I know it slipped it out his hands... But I agree with you.... It still went forward and spiraled. I don't get it.

Blandino is nothing but a huge fraud. The guy knows nothing about officiating and is simply following the lead of Goodell. No head of officiating should be so close to one particular owner and flaunt it (his relationship with JJones). His "explanations" are extremely inconsistent. He comes across as simply someone to make an excuse when the part-time officials make yet another mistake. The NFL almost seems like the WWE sometimes with the way the officials are controlling the outcome of games.

Well, they are in the same tax classification, so there is a precedent there.

There are a few of us on this board who believe this is more true than most would care to imagine.

you would think with all the money the nfl brings in they could hire full time refs

you can put this in with, ties, what is a catch, no replay of pass interference calls, or at least be able to challenge them through replay, a player gets fined more for taking off his helmet vs. a player who goes after a QB's knees. How about the touchback results in the ball at the 25, that really slowed down kickoff's being returned, didn't it? The Duke Johnson fumble? I could go on and on.

They tried during their last contract negotiation with the refs. It was the refs that didn't want to be full time. Most of them have jobs outside of the NFL and didn't want to give those up.

Than find some new refs that will? How hard is that? I am sure if the pay is good they would have a line of people willing to do it. Not really that hard to figure out.

its debatable but what is not is the fact that osweiler is terrible and is drastically overpaid

This is why I do not watch non-Saint's games. I am sick of the refs and the NFL leaders.

The mere fact that the NFL would give someone who has NO EXPERIENCE officiating the authority over and responsibility for making crucial decisions - in fact THE RULING AUTHORITY and LAST WORD - about calls made on the field... well that's just asinine and insane... but unfortunately typical of them.

From what I'm to understand about that ruling is that the Osweiller did not have control of the ball as his are came forward. That's why it was a fumble.

That's not how unions work.

Also, they tried to go a season without the current refs. While hilarious, it forced the NFL to cave to the ref's demands.

I'm not saying the NFL couldn't have upped their offer to make it happen, but from the articles written at the time the refs made it sound like the full-time requirement was a non starter without an excessive pay raise.
