Per the usual I try to inject a positive spin on what can be misconstrued as pessimistic view points that I have. So here's me spreading some good news on Kikaha

Coach Sean Payton said Wednesday Hau'oli Kikaha is "doing outstanding" as he recovers from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, an injury he's now suffered three times.

"Listen, his energy and how he plays, I think there's no question when you miss a player like that," Payton said on a teleconference. "He came on his rookie year and we thought did a lot of good things. So, I don't know that you replace him right away and yet we look forward to him coming back in the lineup and being a part of what we're doing defensively."

People forget how influential this guy was as a rookie. He was all over the field. We'll be getting a helluva pass rusher back if he comes back full speed...I know this is an injury he's suffered 3 times now..but this guy will keep fighting!

Get better, Big Hau!!

I know a lot of people here think Breaux is the most damning injury we have sustained the year, but I think is Kikaha.

In his first few games last year, before RR turned him into a coverage OLB, he was doing great as a passrusher. He was creating pressure and forcing fumbles like it was going out of style. I personally think he would have been that perfect compliment to Cam on the outside. He would have forced the QBs hand on the numerous big plays we have given up this year and allowed our DBs to make more plays. QBs have just had too much time to get rid of the ball, and Kikaha would have solved that problem.

My question is: If he wasn't officially listed on the IR, then why doesn't he show up on weekly injury reports?

He's been listed as PUP since the start of TC. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

It does.

Only active roster players have injuries reported.. and only if they missed or were limited in practice.

Kikaha was probably only brought up because he played in Washington for college, so I'm sure someone asked. It's encouraging, but I doubt he just happened to bring him up out of the blue.

I love the way this guy plays. I'm really pulling for him even aside from what he can do for us. It would be such a shame for this kid if this cut his career short.

He seems like a good guy.

Come ELLIAS I always enjoy your insight and knowledge of the game but I don't get the hesitatation you have on kikaha, he really had an impact on our defense early last season until he was told to do something more than he's used to. It's imo a definite positive spin that he is on schedule to contribute sooner than later...put your spin aside and recognize that he was an impactful player for us when we used him like he was used in college. He has a place on this team.

He is the reason we didn't go all out for another pass rusher I think his coverage days were done here I believe he was going to be allowed to do what he does best and the team didn't feel the need to stretch for someone..

Leaving aside whether we can make it and all that.

Is that a thing? Would he even be eligible to return at some point if he could? I thought that ship sailed.

I think there are much less restrictions on bringing back PUP players, so I assume he could play in post season. Maybe someone who REALLY knows can straighten us out.
