And lead the league in fumble recoveries. This maybe somewhat mislead when we had 9 takeaways in three games out of 8, but still an encouraging stat. Pretty sure we rank in the bottom of the league in Sacks. This defense is an improvement compared to last year. Wish we didn't bleed so many yards, but that is what we get for using cover 2 to a lot.

More fumbles than INT's so that suggest the effort is there. Guys are playing but they haven't adjusted well to the match zone scheme. Still not passing guys off/picking up the right guys.

Yet if you want turnovers having guys with their eyes on the ball is the best way to have that happen. Falls on the dline to start getting some pressure and affecting some throws.

Both Vaccaro and Stupar have two (2) forced fumbles each. Stupar has 2 fumble recoveries.

If we couldve capitalized off of even *one* takeaway vs the Giants, or even not had a FG blocked for a TD, then we could be 5-3. But that game is skewing our W/L record with regard to our good takeaway stats.

Its a good predictor of future games though, since Detroit and Atlanta are the only good offenses left.

I don't mind them giving up a ton of yards. If they can keep up the positive turnover ratio and points per game under 24-ish, the saints have a very good chance of beating anyone. Actually that would be similar to the 2009 defense. I think that year they gave up a ton of yards, but also had something like +26 turnover ratio. I guess it also helped they had I think 6 turnover-return for tds too.

I believe we only have one fumble recovery that wasn't forced. Also, all take way is basically luck. A lucky punch, a jumped route, or a tipped pass into a Int. It's more about luck than skill to get a takeaway.
