Yeah, they blew that bloody call.

But I find it worth noting that when looking at the wide angle you see #6 hauling tail not far away. Considering he was playing through some leg tweak I was at least happy to know that our players wont quit.

That's the 2nd kick that has been blocked and ran back. Why have we not practiced what to do in that scenario? Legatron was literally the only player that had a clue.

Wish I could have McMahon's track record at work and not have to worry about being fired.

Because, besides the kicker, he is literally the only player in position to a.) see it get blocked and b.) see where the ball goes to react in time to it. Everyone else is naturally facing the goal posts.

We need to start putting a protector back there similar to a kneel down just In case. Or put a player wide on each side, causing them to have to account for them, taking away their free rusher

Don't think that's possible. You need every man on that wall, exactly where they're at, to stop a block from happening when a team is in full block mode. Even the slightest deviation would be disastrous.

I would say however that maybe the solution is to try adding maybe a linebacker or two to the unit - guys that are strong enough to block but fast enough to have a realistic chance at chasing.

The most painful part of that play yesterday was watching our hopes and dreams rest in the hands of Thomas Morstead, Will Lutz, Josh Hill, and Max Unger chasing down an NFL DB with a convoy in front of him.

I'm hearing that we're likely to see a FB type player as a last-gap. I'd also think we'd see much more just going for 2 as a standard, but that is showing decidedly mixed results i.e. Pittsburgh yesterday.

We need to go for two after every TD. I think we'd be able to convert more than half with Brees.

Or maybe we should just starting going for two every play. If we make just half of the two point attempts, we end up coming out ahead.

One of the MANY issues I have with that last play which ended up with the defender stepping out of bounds on his 2-Pt conversion on the blocked Kick was, upon further review and over looking our long snapper being pushed down so he couldn’t rise up enough to even get in the high jumper’s way to disrupt his path to the ball was that it was Thomas Morestead who was the closest man to the returner~! Morestead who has been one of our most deadly of weapons for pinning guys deeply into their own territory on the field and is a consistent snap holder for X-tra points and FG’s and then when I watch that last play and it’s an already “gimped up” Thomas Morestead’s # 6 working his behind off to stop that play from gaining any more ground and where the heck is Lutz? You just might figure, since he’s the first guy to actually KNOW that the ball was blocked and where it went, that he’d have a nice “JUMP” on the returner and make a game winning play by laying it all out on the line for a game saving tackle, but NO~! He’s hesitating and wandering around the field and allowing huge linemen pass him on by while he tries to figure out what to do and how to not do it and still appear he’s involved in the play. Now , do I or did I suspect or even expect our FG and X-tra point kicker to make that play? NO, of course not. HOWEVER, he was the closest to the play and had a clear line of sight as to what had happened and what was necessary to stop that play from being successful . He “COULD” have made that stop with lightening reflexes and some burst of speed he never had before. There was a LOT he could have done to prevent that play from happening and even if he couldn’t stop it he sure could have tried with every fiber of his being to do so and he didn’t but you KNOW who did right? That’s it~! Good ol’ #6 Thomas Morestead~! Hurt leg and all, it was #6 who was in the picture, closest to that return man and giving it his ALL to prevent that game winning play. I love the guy for it and have less respect for Lutz as a result. That kid had better grow a pair of Major League minerals in his jock because he sure looked like a lost little girl on that play which cost us the game and he had the one clean shot at prevent the whole mess from going down the way it did and he didn’t~!

I think the NFL has a dilemma on their hands if they are going to let plays like this stand. Illegally pushing blocking linemen down to the ground to gain advantage so their team mate can jump the line takes away from the original intent of the game if you ask me. More and more teams are now going to try and implement this move into their game plans.

Ultimately, teams ar going to have to put a safety behind the kicker if this play is allowed to continue. Technically, the NFL could use this to their advantage and stir up debate amongst the fan base; possibly increasing their viewership.

Nah, watch all the yellow flags if we try this play.

they, along with countless other markets/industries, view ANY controversy as "good"

the next line will be " Controversy is ultimately good for the game. It opens dialogue and makes us take another look at how to make the game better. So we applaud those on both sides"

Translation= keep it coming. Keep purchasing tickets, going to games, buying NFL licensed merchandise and we will tell you we "are looking into it" while really all we are doing is adding another 10 cash counting machines.

im so tainted at this point with the NFL. There really is NO PARITY. There really is NO LEVEL PLAYING FIELD. There just isnt.

There is a hierarchy within the NFL. There are storylines that NEED to be played up. We are involved currently in NEITHER. So we are on the outer fringe of this. We played 2 AFC West teams this year....neither of which we got CBS A team of broadcasters. ( heck Raiders was on Fox ). IT was because it was the Broncos.

ok im ending rant now....sorry.
