Seahawks had a fumble return TD. So defense only gave up 13 technically.

Great post by the OP. :9:

These stats are VERY encouraging! IIRC, successful playoff teams have a defensive points allowed average of around 18.5 ppg.

Should the Saints find a postseason slot this season (with our offense, and defense getting healthier), they'll be dangerous!

Step one: Win, win, win... and reach the playoffs.

Step two: Kick some serious arse.

Step three: If you don't get past step one... we're wasting our time talking about this!

Step four: Make it to the playoffs, and I don't see anyone stopping the Black and Gold train.

:gosaints:

I knew we were gonna get better on defense....you could feel it coming. Never quit attitude, even though we didn't look good all the time. Young players coming together, I like the makeup of this team.

Just fix the special teams and we will be good to go. Easier said than done though....

Who would've thought it was our defense that was playing consistent football and not the offense? Over the last few games I'm feeling myself get a little more positive when the defense is on the field. The last two games the offense has turned the ball over way too much! 6TOs if memory serves me correctly. The defense has been getting pressure, forcing punts, creating turnovers, sacks, defended passes. Things are getting better for them. I was curious to see how they would play with a Breaux out and the performed very good considering short fileds most of the night. Special teams on the other hand, that's a whole new kind of hot mess

Gotta add that TD after the block in on the Carolina score. Realize it's basically a TO, but it was a 1 play, 40 yard TD. Hold them to 3 there, I could see your point, but the D gave up that TD.

Defense also looked pretty awesome that first year that Rob Ryan was here. The logical question is "can they STAY awesome (or get even awsome-er)?".

I believe they can mainly cause of the youth there.

The man that makes the biggest impact on our defense which everyone knows is Ellerbe. The man played lights out last night. It just frustrates me that he's always hurt cause he just changes the whole defense. I don't know how he does it but he does. He looks like a real linebacker which is something we need badly. With Robertson and Ellerbe at the LB spots puts me at ease. Stupar is even decent. When we have a pass rush our young corners look a lot better.

The special team gaffs are just killing me though. If Greg McMahon doesn't get the axe after this years debacle then something is totally up. I know there are better ST coaches walking the street right now. Gotta be.....
