Most players hate playing a Thursday night game after a Sunday game citing that it is not enough time to recover their body. I have read some said the league doesn't care about player safety scheduling these games so close.

Here is my solution: Have the Thursday night games be played by teams coming off a bye week. Instead of having a weekend off and playing the following weekend, take the weekend off and play on Thursday.

Thoughts?

But what about the team that plays week two or three a Thursday game?

Week one bye? Week two bye? Teams would hate that.

But then, they would play Thursday and the subsequent Sunday, which would be even worse. Either eliminate the Thursday games or put inactive Sundays on both ends. Naturally, I'd be in favor of eliminating the Thursday games. They are hazardous to the health of the players.

It's too brilliant, no way the 85 year old out of touch billionaire owners would ever agree.

How about just give the two teams 10(?) days rest for the Thursday night game. That would basically give all teams 1 regular bye week and also a mini bye week(all teams would have to play 1 Thursday night game). The season would have to be extended a little I suppose

The Thursday game would be their Sunday game, on the contrary they will have double time off (the bye and then from thursday to the next Sunday - 10 days later). Or am I getting it wrong ?

Maybe TNF should start after week 5, and you play 2 games on TNF (east coast - west coast) week 6 to week 10... Or you know what, scratch TNF but play every games with color rush jerseys (dont ask me why I just love our uniforms yesterday)

Something could be worked out. The week one teams wouldn't be playing on 4 days rest. Surely there's a way.

How are TNF matchups decided anyway? It sure isn't for ratings. If so, the decision makers should be fired. A lot of boring sub-par prime time games selected this season.

I think that's what I meant. I need more coffee and less other liquids.

That would be the solution. Great idea, OP.

Cancel the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th weeks of Thursday night games and resume in week 6.

I've been saying this for years. Thursday football should be teams coming off a bye, period. This would also give a great solution to removing games no one wants to watch - Browns, Jags, etc.

Either do this, or give two bye weeks, starting with week 2 or 3. Football played after four days of preparation just doesn't look the same. It's a bad product.

Why is 1 TNF game a year a problem, when Detroit and Dallas have had to play on Thanksgiving seemingly forever?
