I would like to give a shout out to the whole defense. Two weeks in a row you have impressed! I thought I would never say this but if our offense could do anything right, we would have won these last couple and be in the hunt for an NFC South title. Keep up the outstanding play! Our offense will come around and when we do lights out! Never give up! This is a crazy league and anything can happen! GEAUX SAINTS!

Yes I will agree our D was a slow start but they have really stepped up to the plate a couple of key FA and draft picks and we will be alright our pass rusher kikaha will hopefully be back to full health next season. Who Dat saints D

...what about special teams? :covri:

You are probably the guy always asking for more aren't you? It's never enough for some people. I want a gold toilet! I want a tank! I want running water and electricity! I want to go to a movie and not sit on an soiled diaper!

You people make me sick.:hihi:

Well they got the safety. That was great.

But 0 turnovers, 0 three-and-outs, 21 first downs (5 via penalty)

I know we have low expectations, but that wasn't great defense. Tampa played great defense.

Wrong, they held a pretty good offense to 16 points, including just 3 in the 2nd half after an INT gave them a short field.

About the only criticism that is legit would be the 0 turnovers, they also held TB to under 300 total yards....had our receivers/backs held onto the ball or even if our coach didn't go pass crazy the outcome would have been much different....

Yeah I get all of that, but 16 points is the stat that really matters. And let's look at some other positive stats:

- Allowed ONLY 184 yds passing
- Allowed 3.0 yards per carry on 35 attempts (Jameis ran the ball 5 times)
- Didn't allow more than 47 yards to a single receiver

Plenty of positives coming out of that game. the 16 points was the most impressive.

This is the point they can't defend the field until it gets short. There is ZERO plays that change the flow of the game. If you enjoy watching a team go up and down the field and just hope they make a mistake then this defense is for you.

I know. It wasn't BAD defense. It was pretty good. I'm encouraged by it. But Tampa's D just held the best offense in the league (us) to 9 points and forced 3 picks on the best QB in the league this year. That's great defense. They also have 2X the talent on defense, so its not a knock on Dennis Allen. He's done great with what he has.

If anyone had told me that the defense would keep the opposing team to just 16 pts, 10 out of 10 times I'd say NO wins easily. If someone would have told me Drew would go back to back games w/o a single TD, I'd call it impossible. This season has been very strange.

The most frustrating thing about the Saints this year is rarely does the offense and defense play well at the same time. If the offense needs to make a critical first down to win the game they fail. If the defense needs to make a critical stop to preserve a game they fail. I do believe this team is treading in the right direction overall but these close losses are very painful....Especially when you look at the NFC...besides the Cowgirls nobody is really running away with anything...and even most of their wins were the result of close games. A case can be made that the Saints should be 9-4 or 8-5 if they had closed the deal in the 4th quarter.

The way the defense is designed is to give up yardage and don't let them score, or score 3, those plays will be there Dennis Allen so much as said it. Now if we get a take away or two that would be something else. The Defense will be ok, the offense is stalling more than we used to. We will be good next year, I'm encouraged

agree.

we're so quick to hand out participation trophies here. i'm quite frankly embarrassed at how many people aspire our defense to just be average.

the defense sucks. we're nearly last in points allowed per game. we give up yards by the hundreds. opponents drives often take 10 minutes off the clock and go the entire length of the field. no takeaways ever forced. no big plays. not many sacks. hardly stop any 3rd down. no PBUs.

what exactly is good about this defense? aside from the average few weeks the defense played against the worst offenses in the NFL?

it's embarrassing that people are proud of this defense and that Allen will keep his job.

We've played some of the worst offenses in the NFL this year (KC, SF, SEA, DEN, TB, CAR, LA, etc.), and still is quite evident how bad this defense actually is.

the zone scheme defense sucks, too much cushion for WRs. nobody on defense makes a play when it matters. passes are completed at ease. the defense hardly even gets off the field.

the defense is as bad as it's always been, and it will be the same next year. woo hoo
